Path-dependent qualities

The ability of programs like REACT to generate reasonable and potentially Interesting reaction paths depends on the number and quality of reactions In the data base. A strong commitment to reaction doctimentatlon needs to be Initiated within a company If the conq>uter program Is going to be useful. The spe-ical reactions known to the company as well as reactions reported In the open literature need to be considered. [Pg.96]

Turbomaehinery operating pressures, temperatures, and speeds are very important parameters. Obtaining aeeurate pressures and temperatures will depend not only on the type and quality of the transdueers seleeted, but also on their loeation in the gas path of the maehine. These faetors should be earefully evaluated. The aeeuraey of pressure and temperature measurements required will depend on the analysis and diagnosties that need to be performed. Table 19-2 presents some eriteria for seleetion of aerothermai instrumentation of pressure and temperature sensors for measurement of eompressor effieieney. Note that the pereentage aeeuraey requirements are more eritieal for temperature sensors than pressure sensors. The requirements are also dependent on the eompressor pressure ratio. [Pg.661]

The production of quality specimens is critically dependent upon the initial steps in the process treatment before transport, transport, grossing, and fixation before processing.4 Nothing about this is profound or even new, yet many specimens, perhaps a large majority of them, show evidence that some basic rule has been ignored. The quest for ever-shorter turnaround time has taken us down a very undesirable path. It has become such a hot topic that an acronym for turnaround time, TAT, has been coined for it. Specimen quality has suffered, putting diagnostic conclusions in doubt. This is well-known, but... [Pg.199]

Below we briefly describe the crystallographic software pipelines using AutoRickshaw as an example, with its flexibility and the ability to decide on the path to be taken dependent on the outcome of a previous step. On one hand, AutoRickshaw has features and general steps, which are also shared by many other pipelines. On the other hand, AutoRickshaw is perhaps the first software pipeline which aims not at the delivery of a fully built, refined, and validated model but rather at fast evaluation of the quality of the X-ray data in terms of interpretability of the obtained electron density map. [Pg.166]

New biomarkers will be useful in hepatotoxicity risk assessment if the data quality and validity can be established. The FDA defines a valid biomarker as one that can be measured in an analytical test system with well-established performance characteristics and has an established scientific framework or body of evidence that elucidates the significance of the test results [160]. Although there is no formerly agreed upon path, biomarker validation should include appropriate end-points for study (i.e., toxicology, histopathology, bioanalytical chemistry, etc.) and dose- and time-dependent measurements. An assessment of species, sex and strain susceptibility is also important to evaluate across species differences. More specific considerations for validation of gene and protein expression technologies are reviewed by Corvi et al. and Rifai et al. [144, 147]. [Pg.374]

Check the cell for the performance measurement The quality of the measurement depends strongly on the quality of the cell used. Always use the highest-quality cell available. Make sure that the cell is clean and free of contamination. Contamination can change the absorbance of standard solutions, resulting in failure of the photometric accuracy test. The optical quality of the cell is affected by factors such as closeness to the specified path length, parallelism of the inner and outer faces of the windows, and flatness of the window. Upon... [Pg.169]

The quality path, to which we have all been firmly committed for many years, will lead us to maintain the ISO 9001 2000 certification. Our quality objective is ambitious but realistic. It involves teamwork and is a challenge that we accept together. Our future depends on it. [Pg.139]

The cut-off point in the ultraviolet region is the wavelength at which the absorbance approaches 1.0 using a 1-cm cell path with water as the reference. Solvents should not be used for measurements below the cut-off point, even though a compensating reference cell is employed. The cut-off points are very dependent on the purity of the solvent used. Most of the solvents listed above are available in highly purified spectrograde quality. [Pg.482]
