Parallelization automatic

Capacity control is more complex in compressor networks where two or more compressors operate in series or parallel. Automatic distribution of the load between compressors is required. The antisurge and load sharing control loops must be coordinated to ensure surge protection while tlie load distribution and energy consumption are optimized. [Pg.400]

Equation (3.31) is satisfied with Sr = Sl=. Equation (3.32) is satisfied the same way, but with the added provision that the inlet and outlet pressures are the same in the large and small units. Scaling in parallel automatically keeps the same value for t. The scaleup should be an exact duplication of the pilot plant results but at S times the flow rate. [Pg.100]

Catalysts pre-treatment (calcination and reduction) was performed in the same testing system or in a parallel automatic activation system prior to reaction test Calcination is carried out at 600 °C under airflow for 8 h and reduction at 250 °C for 2 h under hydrogen flow. Catalytic tests were carried out at 30 bar total pressure, temperature range 200-240°C, and 2.26h-1 WHSV, H2/hydrocarbons molar ratio of 2.93. Each fixed bed microreactor contained 500 mg of catalyst (particle size 0.4—0.6 mm, for which there are no internal diffusion limitations). Reaction products distribution are analysed using a gas chromatograph (Varian 3380GC) equipped with a Plot Alumina capillary column. [Pg.142]

The KDF filter was first tested in prototype on a coal mine in northern Germany. It was installed in parallel with existing vacuum filters and it produced filter cakes consistendy lower in moisture content by 5 to 7% than the vacuum filters. Two production models have been installed and operated on a coal mine in Belgium. The filter is controlled by a specially developed computer system this consists of two computers, one monitoring the function of the filter and all of the detection devices installed, and the other controlling the filtration process. The system allows optimization of the performance, automatic start-up or shut-down, and can be integrated into the control system of the whole coal washing plant. [Pg.406]

Automatic discharging suspended magnets can be operated transversely (Fig. 2) or parallel to conveyor flow (Fig. 3b and 3c). Because the tramp iron must be attracted from a buried location and turned 90° from the movement of the conveyor belt, a larger and stronger magnet is required for a transverse installation. In some instances, the material handling layout, or desired operation location, dictates the use of the transversely mounted magnet. [Pg.421]

Capacity Control The simplest way to regulate the capacity of most steam vacuum refrigeration systems is to furnish several primary boosters in parallel and operate only those required to handle the heat load. It is not uncommon to have as many as four main boosters on larger units for capacity variation. A simple automatic on-off type of control may be used for this purpose. By sensing the chilled-water temperature leaving the flash tank, a controller can turn steam on and off to each ejector as required. [Pg.1123]

Conveyors may be of parallel-chain, mat, slat, woven wire-mesh belt, or cast-alloy type. Automatic tensioning devices are used to maintain belt tension during heating and cooung. The product may rest directly on the conveyor or on special supports built into it. RoUer-conveyors are used for large pieces. Flame curtains are provided for sealing the ends and for protection of special treating atmospheres. [Pg.1197]

A unit is available in which electrostatic precipitation is combined with a dry-air filter of the type shown in Fig. 17-64Z . In another unit an electrostatic field is superimposed on an automatic filter. In this case the ionizer wires are located on the leading face of the unit, and the collecting electrodes consist of alternate stationary and rotating parallel plates. Cleaning in this case is automatic and continuous. [Pg.1616]

The governor can be set to make the machine run at a constant speed, even on load variations, with extremely quick and almost instantaneous speed control, and thus maintain a near-zero AN. In a parallel operation they can also control load sharing automatically and accurately. Power grids, receiving power from different sources, are extremely susceptible to frequency variations. Even a small Af of the order of 0.5 Hz, may cause the system to trip. A fast-actuating governor with low response time (as low as 0.5 second) can overcome such a situation by quickly regulating the speed of the PM. [Pg.500]

This device controls the generator and maintains a steady-stale armature voltage automatically within the predefined limits. It also serves to control the reactive kVAr loading during a parallel operation or when the machine is being used as a synchronous condenser for reactive power compensation through a quadrature droop control (QDC) as noted below. [Pg.502]

Consider the scheme of Example 23.4 having an automatic parallel switching. If we assume the closing sequence cycle to be 30 seconds, the recommended value of discharge resistance for each 20 kVAr capacitor bank having a capacitance of 120 fiF can be determined as follows ... [Pg.823]

For a complete optimization of all factors, the above-described procedure is not practical. In order to perform this rapidly, parallel synthesis and screening techniques must be developed. These can consist of a scaled-down version of the MIPs in vials that can be handled automatically and analyzed in situ (Fig. 6-13) [85, 86]. [Pg.176]
