Tramp iron

Equipment. From the appHcations standpoint, magnetic equipment falls into one of four broad categories tramp iron removal, magnetic particle separation and concentration, product cleaning, or eddy current separation on nonmagnetic metaUics. [Pg.419]

Magnetic pulleys are available ia diameters from 152 to 1524 mm and ia widths that match the conveyor belt width. The material burden on the belt, belt speed, and type of tramp iron expected to be encountered are all considerations ia magnetic pulley selections. [Pg.420]

A suspended magnet can be made continuous in the discharge of tramp iron by placing a belt over the magnet face and driving the belt across it. This discharging feature is particularly effective where long pieces of tramp iron are encountered. [Pg.421]

Automatic discharging suspended magnets can be operated transversely (Fig. 2) or parallel to conveyor flow (Fig. 3b and 3c). Because the tramp iron must be attracted from a buried location and turned 90° from the movement of the conveyor belt, a larger and stronger magnet is required for a transverse installation. In some instances, the material handling layout, or desired operation location, dictates the use of the transversely mounted magnet. [Pg.421]

To determine the size of the magnetic field to be used, the type and size of tramp iron to be removed must be known. A general rule of thumb for 13 to 25 mm balls or cubes is that a 0.1-T (1-kG) field is required at the suspension distance. For tramp iron 50 mm and larger, a 0.05—0.08-T (0.5—0.8-kG) field is required at the suspension distance. [Pg.421]

Hot gases can be introduced to dry the fuel being pulverized. Refractory material such as tramp iron is removed in the first pulverizing chamber and eliminated through a tramp-iron pocket. [Pg.1860]

Iron is usually present in FCC feed as tramp iron and is not cata-lytically active. Tramp iron refers to various corrosion by-products from upstream processing and handling. [Pg.68]
