In another detailed study,62 the target tumor cells for the DC treatment were mouse mastocytoma P815. The current was passed in a three compartment cell in which the cathode compartment (CC) was separated from the anode compartment (AC) by the insertion of an intermediary chamber (IC) which had neither the anode nor the cathode the three compartments were connected in series via filter-paper bridges (Figure 9). Each of the three compartments contained 2 ml of cell suspension and 2 mA current was passed through platinum electrodes inserted in the AC and CC chambers (Figure 9). The salient results of this study are as follows ... [Pg.493]

Put the plate on the cooling plate of a horizontal electrophoresis apparatus. Fill the buffer chambers with 1 1 diluted Soln. B (= electrode buffer) and connect the electrode buffer to the gel by filter paper bridges, wetted with electrode buffer. The filter paper covers the gel for about 5 mm. Remove carefully air bubbles between papers and gel. [Pg.41]

Place the IPG strip face down onto the stacking gel, about 5 mM apart of the cathode paper bridge. Place silicone rubber sample applicators for molar mass marker proteins at one or both sides of the IPG strip. [Pg.44]

The connection between electrode chambers of a horizontal electrophoresis apparatus filled with buffer A and the cellulose support is made by wetted paper bridges. To avoid liquid moving, the buffer level must be the same in both chambers. A glass plate, laying on the paper bridges, covers the separation plate cooled to 0-4 °C. [Pg.48]

Wunderly (W21) proposed a baffle system consisting of three separate vessels connected by means of paper bridges. The first vessel contained the electrode, the second vessel was at a slightly higher level, and the... [Pg.35]

The standard electrode potential Eo is produced between the reference solution and the sample in the single use ion-selective electrodes via the paper bridge. Its magnitude (numerical value) and sign depend upon the overall ion concentration and the composition of the two solutions. It is primarily obtained from the concentration of the sodium ions and chloride ions. The value of o can be kept low if a reference solution is used the ion concentration of which is near the physiological range. [Pg.62]

Thin layer gel chromatography. Determann, and Johanson and I nno (in 1962) showed that gel permeation chromatography could be conducted using thin layers of gel. For clinical use, thin layer gel filtration (TLG) is ideal since very small sample volinne is required for this technique. In this technique, a layer of hydrated gel is applied to the plate. There is no need of a fixative to adhere the gel beads. The plate is not dried at all and is placed in an airtight container at an angle of 20 . The plate is connected to reservoirs at either end by means of filter paper bridges. Equilibrium must be carried out for at least 12 hours. Such equilibrium serves to normalize the ratio between the stationary and mobile phase volumes. The sample may be applied either as a spot or as a band. TTie plate may then be developed for a suitable time and the sep2u-ated components detected by suitable means. [Pg.382]

A common known method to get eddy-current informations about material flaws is the measurement of real- and imaginary part of the complex impedance of a coil in absolute circuit. The measurement, shown in this paper, are done with an impedance analyzer (HP4192A). The device measures the serial inductance L, and the serial resistance Rs of the complex impedance with an auto-balance bridge measurement circuit [5]. [Pg.368]

The retention of fillers in the sheet during the forming process is important. Both hydrodynamic mechanisms and colloidal or coflocculation phenomena are significant in determining filler retention (7). Polymeric retention aids are used to bridge between filler particles and fibers. Talc is sometimes used with mechanical pulp furnishes in order to reduce the deposition of pitch-like materials onto paper machinery. [Pg.5]

Annotinine, C gHjjOjN, (1). M.p. 232° perchlorate, m.p. 267°. In a later paper (1947) Manske and Marion record the results of the action of alkali and of halogen acids on annotinine, and of the oxidation of the base and discuss the reaction products. They conclude that two of the oxygen atoms are present as a lactone group and that the third oxygen may form an ether bridge in a 5- or 6-membered ring. [Pg.753]

As the result of a mix-up at a distribution center, two tank track drivers received each other s papers. One of the trucks carried a load of sodium chlorite solution, and the other carried epichlorohydrin. The chlorite truck went to the customer who was expecting epichlorohydrin and was off-loaded into a tank that already contained some epichlorohydrin. The result was an explosion and a serious fire fumes and smoke led to the closure of the bridges over the Severn Estuary. UK [12, 13]. [Pg.269]

Konovalov and colleagues145 studied the chemical shifts of the CH2 protons for a series of derivatives of arylsulfonylacetic acids and /i-disulfones in DMSO or CDClj. The transmission of electronic effects through the S02 bridge was detected and attributed to the possibility of participation of the 3d orbitals of sulfur in the formation of the S=0 bond and to the existence of dn-pn conjugation . The paper contains various references to related (mainly Soviet) work. [Pg.519]

A limited overview of the process chemistry used at these sites is presented. This paper will also attempt to bridge, at least partly, the gap between ongoing fundamental plutonium research and development and applied technology needs. We believe it is important to bridge this gap, since a continuous flow of knowledge about plutonium chemistry from academic and government laboratories to the plant is necessary and beneficial... [Pg.345]
