Any resemblance to the first package cost and any later spare costs, unfortunately, is a coincidence. It is suggested, if funds permit, that at least the first spares be purchased with the compressor because they can be expected to come at a good price.

The packaging costs are those for obtaining disposable containers needed for shipping the product to the customers. (See reference 5 for other details.) For products handled in nondisposable containers no separate packaging cost is listed.

The target is to niiriirriize the sum of transportation costs, production costs, and packaging costs. The transportation costs are proportional to the amount of transported semi-products and products. Production and packaging costs consist of variable cost proportional to the amormt of the products, and fix costs. Fix costs are given by stepwise constant functions, as is shown in Fig. 2. Intervals over which the fix costs are defined can be specified according to the working shifts, for example.
