Perxanthate ion may also be implicated [59]. Even today, the exact nature of the surface reaction is clouded [59, 79-81], although Gaudin [82] notes that the role of oxygen is very determinative in the chemistry of the mineral-collector interaction. [Pg.477]

An alternative way to view the oxygen enrichment of the vapor relative to the condensed phase Is to calculate the oxygen-to-plutonium ratio of the gas, R(gas), with Eq. (2). The value of R(gas) exceeds that of the condensed phase with which It Is In equilibrium by a large amount. Like the U/0 system, this oxygen enrichment of the vapor relative to the condensed phase Is Increasing with temperature. One Implication of these results Is that the condensed-phase and vapor-phase compositions will depend upon the extent of vaporization of a sample with overall composition given by 0/Pu = 2 - x. [Pg.138]

Direct conversion of methane to ethane and ethylene (C2 hydrocarbons) has a large implication towards the utilization of natural gas in the gas-based petrochemical and liquid fuels industries [ 1 ]. CO2 OCM process provides an alternative route to produce useful chemicals and materials where the process utilizes CO2 as the feedstock in an environmentally-benefiting chemical process. Carbon dioxide rather than oxygen seems to be an alternative oxidant as methyl radicals are induced in the presence of oxygen. Basicity, reducibility, and ability of catalyst to form oxygen vacancies are some of the physico-chemical criteria that are essential in designing a suitable catalyst for the CO2 OCM process [2]. The synergism between catalyst reducibility and basicity was reported to play an important role in the activation of the carbon dioxide and methane reaction [2]. [Pg.213]

The same applies to pathologically-disturbed function. A simulated reduction in coronary blood flow (heart attack) would lead to reduced oxygen supply to the cells in the virtual heart, which would reduce efficiency of cardiac contraction and possibly give rise to heart rhythm disturbances. Ventricular pressure development would be compromised, as would the blood supply to all organs of the body, including the heart. All these implications can be studied in a virtual heart. [Pg.140]
