Oxygen compounds soil extractions

Daimler Benz, Ulm in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute (ICT) are setting up a process for the treatment of electronic scrap [27]. Technical University Munich operated a bench-scale SCWO-plant of 50 kg/h for the treatment of waste that could not be destroyed by biological systems. In these experiments, various model compounds were treated with hydrogen peroxide. These activities were terminated in 1996 [28]. Technical University Hambing Harbmg developed the combined process of soil extraction [29] followed by SCWO with electrolytic in-situ generation of oxygen. Soil was taken from a former paint factory, clay loam and other contaminated sites. [Pg.433]

The very good solubility of organic compounds in supercritical water opens up the possibility of extracting hazardous compounds e.g. from soil. Such an extraction was combined with a SCWO process, in which the oxygen is produced elec-trochemically [122, 123]. [Pg.437]

The second limitation of Py-GC-MS is that the complex pyrolysate was not just pyrolysis products it consisted of evaporation and combustion products of HS. ° It was reported that free compounds, e.g., alkanes, and fatty acids in HS macromolecules evaporated quickly under pyrolysis, and stmctural units split off through burning in the presence of oxygen and can be further incorporated into HS. For example, lipids, e.g., alkanes, fatty acids, dicarboxylic acids, and ketones were often found as free or solvent-extractable compounds in soils and soil HS. These compounds can be synthesized by microorganisms and plants, and can occur upon combustion of fossil fuels and biomasses. Alkylfurans and methoxylated phenols were considered pyrolysis products of... [Pg.1166]
