Organometallic polymers current research

Makoto Yamashita Makoto Yamashita, born in 1974 in Hiroshima, received his Ph.D. from Hiroshima University in 2002 under the guidance of Professor Yohsuke Yamamoto and Professor Kin-ya Akiba. He spent two years as a JSPS research fellow under the supervision of Professor John F. Hartwig at Yale University and Professor Takayuki Kawashima at The University of Tokyo. He started his current appointment as a research associate with Professor Kyoko Nozaki at The University of Tokyo in 2004. His current research interests are organometallic chemistry, organome-tallic catalyst, polymer chemistry, and main group chemistry. He has been awarded Inoue Research Award for Young Scientist (2005) and Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Award in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Japan (2005). 

Qi Shen received her B.Sc. degree in polymer chemistry from Nankai University in 1962 and her M.Sc. degree in chemistry from Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China, in 1966 with Professor Baotong Huang. She then joined the faculty of Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and was promoted to full Professor in 1988. She moved to the Department of Chemistry of Soochow University in 1993. Her current research is focused on organometallic chemistry. 

The present book contains nine chapters focusing on the design of imine and phosphorylide catalyst structures, the preparation of cycloaliphatic materials, polar/ nonpolar monomer copolymerizations, organometallic polymerizations in aqueous media, and current frontiers in ROMP and ADMET processes. Exactly forty years after the Nobel Prize for Ziegler and Natta, we give a concise description of the state of the art in these fascinating and rapidly developing fields. The authors present, likewise, viewpoints from the forefront of both academia and industrial research, so that basic science and polymer applications are equally covered.
