Compounds organo-metallic

Products that have been the most widely used are organo-metallic compounds and especially the lead derivatives that have been commercialized since 1920. 

The reaction mechanism for these products is not clearly understood, but the introduction of organo-metallic compounds (barium or iron salts in colloidal suspension) has been shown to have a beneficiai action on the combustion of diesel fuel in engines and reduce smoke. However, these products cause deposits to form because they are used in relatively large proportions (on the order 0.6 to 0.8 weight %) to be effective. 

The zinc alkyls, of which this is an example, are vile-smelling inflammable liquids. They were the first organo-metallic compounds prepared by Frankland in 1849. With water, they decompose giving an alkane ...

Organo-metallic compounds, on the other hand, behave very much like organic compounds, e.g. they can be redistilled and may be soluble in organic solvents. A note of caution should be made about handling organo-metallic compounds, e.g. arsines, because of their potential toxicities, particularly when they are volatile. Generally the suppliers of such compounds provide details about their safe manipulation. These should be read carefully and adhered to closely. If in any doubt always assume that the materials are lethal and treat them with utmost care. The same safety precautions about the handling of substances as stated in Chapter 4 should be followed here (see Chapter 1).

Chemical deposition, gas or vapour plating This is a chemical process whereby the aluminium is deposited when an aluminium compound is pyrolysed. The element specificity of atomic absorption spectrometry has also been used in conjunction with gas chromatography to separate and determine organo-metallic compounds of similar chemical composition, e.g. alkyl leads in petroleum here lead is determined by AAS for each compound as it passes from the gas chromatograph.75... 

Supported oxide catalysts were discovered at the same time (8-5) as the two-component Ziegler-Natta catalysts (6, 7) in the early 1950 s. The publications on other types of one-component catalysts [supported organo-metallic compounds of transition elements (8, 9, 9a) and titanium dichloride (10) ] appeared quite recently.

Compounds in which C is united directly to a metallic element (organo-metallic compounds). The order is according to Periodic Groups 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 6, 7 and 8. Thus Class 23 consists of compounds In which C is attached to P, As, Sb or Bi.

Some examples of specific electron-capture by various organo-metallic compounds in such solvents are summarised in reactions [5]-[10] [refs. (5)-(H)) respectively]. In some cases, the parent anion ( AB ) is detected by e.s.r. spectroscopy, but in others subsequent reactions have occurred.

Figures 5 and 6 show one of the first examples of organo-metallic compounds adsorbed on the alumina of a metal-insulator-metal junction. The carboxyl groups on the benzene ring and cyclopentadienyl rings are most likely coordinated to the alumina.
