Organic plastic films

A similar technique is used in the industrial preparation of polarizing films. Amon and Kane21) impregnated an organic plastic film successively with solutions of rubean-ate and copper salts to synthesize linear polymers in this film. These polymers become oriented to give the polarizing film when the latter is stretched in one direction. [Pg.158]

The chelated organic titanates also function as adhesion promoters of the ink binder to printed substrates such as plastic films, paper, and aluminum foil (504). The acetylacetone complexes of titanium are the preferred products for promoting adhesion of printing inks to polypropylene films. [Pg.163]

The blending of polymeric organic carbonyl compounds, e.g., ethylene/carbon monoxide copolymer, with the parent polymer, e.g., polyethylene, gives a plastic film material that degrades within 3 months. [Pg.111]

A typical lithium-ion cell consists of a positive electrode composed of a thin layer of powdered metal oxide (e.g., LiCo02) mounted on aluminum foil and a negative electrode formed from a thin layer of powdered graphite, or certain other carbons, mounted on a copper foil. The two electrodes are separated by a porous plastic film soaked typically in LiPFe dissolved in a mixture of organic solvents such as ethylene carbonate (EC), ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC), or diethyl carbonate (DEC). In the charge/ discharge process, lithium ions are inserted or extracted from the interstitial space between atomic layers within the active materials. [Pg.185]

Starch-plastic composites contain a mixture of two very different types of materials (/) hydrophobic, petrochemical-derived polymers (PE, EAA) known to be highly resistant to degradation by living organisms, and (i7) a hydrophilic, natural polymer (starch) that is easily broken down by a wide array of organisms. In the process developed by Otey (3), these fundamentally incompatible materials are forced into an intimate mixture during production of the plastic film. Since... [Pg.69]

Silicone liquids are used by dentists in the preparation of dentures. Dentures become waterproof, their material is not leached by saliva. Food particles do not stick to such dentures mucous membranes in the mouth are not irritated, which often happens when dentures are produced from organic plastic masses. If silicone toothpaste is used, teeth are covered with a colourless film that prevents them from tartar. [Pg.472]
