Pseudomonas. These gram-aegative bacteria are a diverse group of microbes that iahabit plants, water, and sod. Pseudomonads are metabohcaHy versatile, capable of carrying out chemical transformations, mineralization of organic compounds, and colonization on plant roots (16). The use of Pseudomonads strains ia the clean up of chemical wastes and od spills has drawn considerable attention. 

Within 6 months after enactment of the Qean Air Act Amendments of 1990, and at least every 3 years thereafter, the Administrator shall review and, if necessary, revise, the methods ( emission factors ) used for purposes of this Act to estimate the quantity of emissions of carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds, and oxides of nitrogen from sources of such air pollutants (including area sources and mobile sources). It was not nndl the 1950s that detonation flame arresters made of crimped metal ribbon elements were developed and began to be used more freqnendy (Binks 1999). The major impetus for die use of crimped metal ribbon detonation flame arresters in the US was the enactment of clean air legislation (Clean Air Act of 1990) which inadvertently created a safety problem by requiring reductions in volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. To do this, manifolded vent systems (vapor collection systems) were increasingly installed in many chemical process industry plants which captured VOC vapors and transported them to suitable recovery, recycle, or destruction systems. If the column is contaminated with hydrophobic compounds, clean it with water-miscible organic solvents such as MeOH, CHjCN, or EtOH. Concentrations of 10-20% organic in water should be sufficient for cleaning. 

Supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) and Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) are excellent alternatives to traditional extraction methods, with both being used independently for clean-up and/or analyte concentration prior to chromatographic analysis. While SFE has been demonstrated to be an excellent method for extracting organic compounds from solid matrices such as soil and food (36, 37), SPE has been mainly used for diluted liquid samples such as water, biological fluids and samples obtained after-liquid-liquid extraction on solid matrices (38, 39). Note. Evaporation with perchloric acid or perchlorates should be carried out in a fume cupboard which is kept clean and free from combustible materials. In the presence of carbon and easily oxidisable organic compounds a violent explosion may occur on heating. The determination is not suitable for the beginner and should only be carried out by an experienced analyst. 

Organic compound (such as ethylenediamine-tetraacetic acid (EDTA) or nitrilo-triacetic acid (NTA) having the ability to take metal ions in water and produce soluble, coordinate-bond complexes. Chelants are commonly used in BW deposit control treatments and various cleaning formulations.
