Ore reserve

The element is found in niobite (or columbite), niobite-tantalite, parochlore, and euxenite. Large deposits of niobium have been found associated with carbonatites (carbon-silicate rocks), as a constituent of parochlore. Extensive ore reserves are found in Canada, Brazil, Nigeria, Zaire, and in Russia. 

Table 4 gives typical analyses of some of the commercial manganese ores available ia the world market. Table 5 gives a breakdown of the world s total estimated manganese ore reserves that account for 98—99% of the known world reserves of economic significance. No manganese ores of commercial value are to be found ia the United States.

Braithwaite pointed out that China and the Confederation of Independent States were now introducing substantial quantities of by-product molybdenum. The estimated ore reserves in the CIS alone are about 1.6 x 10 tonnes, with a moiybdenum content varying from 0,015% to 0.09%. This represents a total molybdenum content of about 800,000 tonnes not previously included in Western estimates. Inclusion of similar quantities from China and the remainder of the Far East would raise the estimated world total to about seven to nine million tonnes.

From time to time, summaries about the tungsten ore reserves are published in the current literature. In principle, it must be taken into account that all those figures are based on estimates. Moreover, they are influenced by the demand of tungsten, the market situation, and consequently by the world market price for tungsten. 

Table 2.8 informs about the tungsten ore reserves of countries, continents, and the earth at different times. By far the largest reserves lie in the Peoples Republic of China... 

Dnepropetrovsk Provinee has a wealth of natural resourees ineluding iron, manganese, scandium and uranium ores, black coal, water resources, very fertile soils and favourable climatic conditions for the ecosystems development. Natural recourses formed the basis for the leading industries at the national and regional level. Two of the metal-ore reserves are among the largest in the world the iron ore reserve in Krivoy Rog (Krivbass) and the manganese ore reserve in the vicinity of the city of Nikopol. 

There are 11 reported brucite-bearing deposits in Russia. The Kuldurskoye deposit is the world s second largest brucite deposit and the only one currently being exploited in Russia. Proven ore reserves are about 38 Mt with magnesium hydroxide content of up to 65%. 

The deposits in the Singhbhum area, Bihar and Orissa, India are reported to have 20 million tons of ore reserves averaging perhaps 2% V205, a quantity sufficient to supply the total requirements of the Free World for many years.
