Operational functions

The operations function develops strategies and tactics to achieve command objectives.

Flow Sheets. AH minerals processing operations function on the basis of a flow sheet depicting the flow of soHds and Hquids in the entire plant (6,13,14). The complexity of a flow sheet depends on the nature of the ore treated and the specifications for the final product. The basic operations in a flow sheet are size reduction (qv) (comminution) and/or size separation (see Separation, size), minerals separation, soHd—Hquid separation, and materials handling. The overaH flow sheet depends on whether the specification for the final mineral product is size, chemical composition, ie, grade, or both. Products from a quarry, for example, may have a size specification only, whereas metal concentrates have a grade specification. 

Shell boilers may be fitted with internal level controls. Here controls are mounted on the crown of the boiler with the floats or probes extending to the water surface through the steam space. To check the operating function of these, it is necessary to drop the water level in the boiler, or, alternatively, a separate electronic testing device can be fitted. With fully flooded hot water boilers, a single level control or switch is fitted to protect against low-water condition. 

Ideally, the walls should be of brick or concrete with an insulated roof. Large areas of glass should be avoided. It is desirable that all routine maintenance and operating functions can be carried out without having to open doorways. Openings and access to the boilerhouse should be away from sensitive areas. Free areas for air for both combustion and ventilation should be through acoustic louver... 

This model also can accommodate dose-response curve having Hill coefficients different from unity. This can occur if the stimulus-response coupling mechanism has inherent cooperativity. This appears to be the first process to take advantage of the above listings of operations, functions, and processes, in which no heating or eddy-current dissipation is produced in the cores of coils utilized in embodiments of the process, and where said process and embodiments output electrical power in loads without the need to cool the process components. 

We begin with a brief recapitulation of some of the key features of quantum mechanics. This example illustrates the broad role which is part and parcel to the operations function in the matrix. It is not possible to overemphasize the interconnection between elements of the matrix in achieving the desired results of safe production and handling of chemicals. 

Unique, though not exclusive, to the operations function is the concept called operating discipline (see Section IV, E). Incorporated in this idea is the systematic accumulation of all operating experience such that mistakes will not be repeated. Any change, no matter how small, requires reassessment of its impact on the operating discipline. 

The last part of this section lists a few standard MATLAB operations, functions, and commands, collected into groups, together with short descriptions. This may help our readers to more easily find and use built-in MATLAB functions in their own MATLAB program codes.
