Operation primary

The reactor coolant pH is controlled using lithium-7 hydroxide [72255-97-17, LiOH. Reactor coolant pH at 300°C, as a function of boric acid and lithium hydroxide concentrations, is shown in Figure 3 (4). A pure boric acid solution is only slightly more acidic than pure water, 5.6 at 300°C, because of the relatively low ionisation of boric acid at operating primary temperatures (see Boron COMPOUNDS). Thus the presence of lithium hydroxide, which has a much higher ionisation, increases the pH ca 1—2 units above that of pure water at operating temperatures. This leads to a reduction in corrosion rates of system materials (see Hydrogen-ION activity). [Pg.191]

This reaction may be followed by others (complex formation and/or precipitation) which are independent of the electrode potential but determined by the nature and concentration of the electrolyte. It is impossible to discuss all the problems relating to zinc electrodes without looking at the electrolyte system and the kind of cell operation (primary or rechargeable). The only way to cover all the possible combinations is by another mode of characterization or categorization, which is used in the subsequent sections ... [Pg.199]

On principle, renewable energies are without operational primary energy raw materials per se, their conversion technologies are one and all - such as the wind energy converter, the photovoltaic cell, the hydro turbine, the heat pump, the biomass converter, or the solar-thermal power station. [Pg.37]

Army experiences as well as technological advances have resulted in the accumulation of substantial data, which has been used to develop the functional criteria, that must be recognized in design and development of equipment and associated facilities used for ammunition operations. Primary guidelines are found in the Army Materiel Development and Readiness Command Safety Manual (DARCOMR 385-100), Ammunition and Explosive Standards (TM 9-1300-206) and Occupational Safety and Health Act Standards, as well as other laws, rules and regulations. All of these criteria have been recognized and considered in the development of the Mobile Surveillance Inspection Shop. [Pg.160]

Documentation of percent effort dedicated to poison center operation, primary department, number of hours worked in that department each week, duration of employment (in weeks), and annual call volume for the center. This documentation must be verified and signed by the poison center director. Any figures which clearly demonstrate 2000 hours of experience handling telephone poisoning consultations and sufficient time expended (based on the center s call volume) to have handled at least 2000 calls will be accepted. [Pg.768]

Once the magnesite rock has been blasted, it is generally loaded onto trucks and transported to the primary crushing operation. Primary crushers are heavy-duty machines and handle dry run of mine feed material as large as 1 m. There are two principle types of primary crushers in operation— gyratory crushers and jaw crushers, with the gyratory type being the most common. [Pg.71]

The second occurrence in this group is Sodium ingress in gas-type pressurizer through pipeline of primary sodium cleanup system and blow-down pipeline of failed MCP-2 while primary sodium cleanup system was being connected to the primary circuit (FIG.4). The primary sodium cleanup system, connected with pipelines with pipelines of loops-2 and 3, is general for all sodium coolant of primary circuit. Loop-2 was on maintenance and separated from primary circuit with isolation gate valves N 1,2. When personal began to put into operational primary sodimn cleanup system, it was fed from pressure pipeline of MCP-3... [Pg.172]

This chapter is an overview of a simple distillation process used by a number of educational programs to teach operations. Primary equipment and systems are designed to simulate this process. Trainers usually require that new trainees receive an overview of the pilot plant process. [Pg.266]

As already stated, the choice of manufacturing process is influenced by both the material selected and part design. The entire manufactmlng process normally consists of primary and secondary operations. Primary operations are those that convert the raw material into a recognizable part (casting, plastic forming, powder compaction, molding, etc.), whereas secondary operations are those subsequently used to produce the finished part... [Pg.870]
