Although the initial setup for online winders is expensive (each head costs about 1000), there is considerable savings in labor since it precludes handling of the fiber twice. It is possible to carry out the inspection online. 

The fiber can be collected online without winders in containers, with the process being aided by passing the fiber tow through an air mover, which helps to guide the tow into its respective container. The air movers work on a venturi principle and arranging intermittent air supply will help conserve air. It is essential to ensure that the air supply to the air movers is dry and free from oil, as otherwise the fiber will become contaminated.

Online collection/concentration of samples through the use of cross (tangential) flow ultrafiltration has also found a number of applications.

This section introduces basic theory behind the potential waveform applied during CV and the current response that should enable readers to follow the practical explanations given as follows for the case studies eited. A rigorous treatment and derivation of the diffusion equations relating transport phenomena with reaction rate kinetics at the electrode surface are not presented here instead, these are only shown in their final form. Now, although the format distinctions remain, it is common for all three types to be combined in one online collection. Students and faculty will appreciate the convenience of desktop access, and the power of searching across multiple titles to retrieve the information they... 

If an online collection is not within the budget, then selected hard copy or online editions should be purchased. Using the reviews in Choice or SciTech Book News, or conducting a search in WorldCat can be helpful to determine recent and popular titles in particnlar areas. For example, a WorldCat title search on handbook or mannal or dictionary or encyclopedia and electronics, sorted by publication date, gives a selection of titles that could be added to the collection.

The core - flood apparatus is illustrated in Figure 1. The system consists of two positive displacement pumps with their respective metering controls which are connected through 1/8 inch stainless steel tubing to a cross joint and subsequently to the inlet end of a coreholder 35 cm. long and 4 cm. in diameter. Online filters of 7 im size were used to filter the polymer and brine solutions. A bypass line was used to inject a slug of surfactant solution. Two Validyne pressure transducers with appropriate capacity diaphragms are connected to the system. One of these measured differential pressure between the two pressure taps located about one centimeter from either end of the coreholder, and the other recorded the total pressure drop across the core and was directly connected to the inlet line. A two - channel linear strip chart recorder provided a continuous trace of the pressures. An automatic fraction collector was used to collect the effluent fluids. 

The downloading function is provided so that the user can automatically create disks that can be used to transport information from a data disk to an offline computer for further reduction. This function also writes an extract of the result archive to the output disk for use in updating the comprehensive result archive that is maintained on the remote host. The algorithms used for online data reduction are transportable to any computer that supports FORTRAN IV [which is a subset of FORTRAN 77 (4)] so that users can process their data interactively when they are unable to use the data collection computer.
