Pyridine and alkylpyridines are excellent solvents for many materials, a property that must be taken into account when selecting O-rings, gaskets, and other sealants that are m contact with liquids.

Europrene compounds, especially oil-extended grades, are used in shoe soles and other footwear. Vacuum-assisted venting is a simple method to remove essentially all of the air from the rimners and cavities before the plastic enters the cavity.
