Nylon particle filled

Recently, prototype molds are being fabricated from particle-filled polyurethane and epoxy syntactic foams using computer-aided multiaxis routers. Plugs, used to mechanically prestretch polymer sheet, are also usually machined from syntactic foams. For certain pol5miers, heated aluminum plugs or solid nylon plugs are desired. 

In packed bed reactors the enzyme-catalyzed reaction is carried out in a column of 100 pl-10 ml volume. The column is filled with tiny particles bearing the immobilized enzyme. The continuously formed reaction product is indicated colorimetrically or electrochemically. Enzyme carrier materials with advantageous flow behavior are porous glass with pores of a defined size, organic polymers, like nylon powder, and inorganic polymers. 

Typical polymer materials studied in optical thin section include extrudates or molded parts, such as semicrystalline polyoxymethylene multiphase polymers, such as rubber toughened nylon filled polymers, such as carbon black filled nylon fibers, such as polyester and rayon and films which are too thick to transmit light. Two examples are of nylon imaged in polarized light (Fig. 4.9A), which reveals its spherulitic texture, and imaged in bright field (Fig. 4.9B), which reveals the dispersed carbon black particles. 

If the material is reinforced, such as a glass-fiber-filled nylon, relatively thin passages in the cavity may cause the low-viscosity plastic to flow into the passage but may strain out the glass fiber particles, resulting in a resin-rich but nonreinforced (and therefore weaker) area in the final part.
