The longest continuous chain that includes the double bond forms the base name of the alkene and the chain is numbered in the direction that gives the doubly bonded carbons their lower numbers The locant (or numerical position) of only one of the dou bly bonded carbons is specified in the name it is understood that the other doubly bonded carbon must follow in sequence... 

There are numerous positive clutch and tooth conhg-uration designs, but they generally can be broken down into two sub-classes one- and two-way.

Numerous positive delayed skin tests in patients with contrast medium-induced non-immediate skin reactions have been reported when the patients were tested with the culprit contrast medium [summarized in 1]. In a large European multicenter study, 37% of patients with non-immediate reactions were positive in delayed IDEs and/or patch tests [13]. The majority of the patients also reacted to the culprit contrast medium and also to other, structurally similar RCM. Notably, in more than 30% of those skin test-positive patients a RCM had been administered for the first time. Thus, there is a lack of a sensitization phase. Again it may be hypothesized that these previously non-exposed patients may have already been sensitized. Different patterns of RCM cross-reactivity indicate that several chemical entities could be involved. No positive skin tests have been obtained with other contrast medium excipients, such as ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), and only rarely patients have been found to react to inorganic iodide.

This data, coupled with numerous positive outcome studies of the effectiveness of antidepressants, has led to the development of the monoamine (or biogenic amine) hypothesis of depression. The theory holds that depressive symptoms are ushered in by a malfunction of either norepinephrine (NE) or serotonin (5-HT) neurons, which play critical roles in the functioning of the limbic system and the adjacent hypothalamus. The basic neuronal malfunction is felt to be identical for either NE or 5-HT neurons, thus what follows (a description of the pathophysiology of NE neurons) can also be seen to occur in individuals in whom 5-HT neurons are affected. For reasons that are not well understood, patients with major depression (with vegetative symptoms) appear to suffer from either NE or 5-HT dysfunction, but probably not both simultaneously (although some exceptions exist). 

Thinking toward the future, it should be emphasized that the work described here is of a relatively recent origin. A number of interesting observations have been made which, hopefully, have provided a basis for a series of continued systematic developments. The key to our efforts has been the flexibility and the numerous positive characteristics inherent in the Ru-bpy systems chosen for study, and using them future developments will no doubt include ...
