In one of the classical papers on the enumeration of poly hexes, Lunnon [10] found the numbers of all geometrically planar polyhexes with h (number of hexagons) up to 12 see Table 4. In these numbers the helicenic systems are excluded, but all non-helicenic circulenes are included. Hence the numbers pertain to benzenoids plus planar circulenes. The contribution of Balaban and Harary [13] to the Lunnon numbers (cf. footnotes to Table 4) is commented in the next section. The Lunnon numbers have been extended to h = 13 and h = 14 by means of the data from Muller et al. [36]. [Pg.77]

There are two main referencing systems in use in universities. One of these uses a numbering system in the text with notes at the end of the chapter or article this system often also uses extensive footnoting, and a bibliography is included of works that have been used during the writing of the text. The alternative system that we illustrate above and below is called the Harvard system its use is widespread across many different academic fields of study. In this system the author s name and the date of publication are given in parentheses in the text and refer to a section at the end of the publication, headed References, which in turn contains details of all the published works that have been referenced. NOAEL A No-Observed-Adverse-Eifect Level (NOAEL) is the highest exposure level at whieh no harmful effeets were seen in the organ system studied. Key number 18 reports a NOAEL of 3 ppm for the respiratory system whieh was used to derive an intermediate exposure, inhalation MRL of 0.005 ppm (see footnote "b"). [Pg.256]

A relatively new reference citation system has been employed which rapidly becomes familiar with use and then has distinct advantages over the more common superscript number method. In this system no reference numbers appear in the text, in tables, in footnotes or at the end of chapters. Instead, each time a reference is cited there appears in angle brackets a letter code assigned to the journal, preceded by the year (tens and units only except for non-twentieth century references) and followed by the page number.
