The only known commercial producer of polyvinyl fluoride is DuPont Company. Tedlar is DuPont s trademark for oriented and unoriented films and three grades of PVF resin for special coatings applications. PVF films are tough, durable, preformed polyvinyl fluoride films that are manufactured in continuous rolls. PVF films can be oriented or nonoriented. Film thickness can range from 12.5 to 75 pm and can be treated for adherability or left untreated for release applications. [Pg.124]

Nonoriented Tedlar SP films (Types 8 and 9) offer excellent conformability to almost any shape or substrate while maintaining the durability, chemical resistance, and ease of cleaning expected of PVF film.1 ] Nonoriented films are available as multilayer films without adhesives or heat sealing. A partially crystalline polymer that is not fully crystallized during processing will shrink when heated to a certain temperature. When the chain mobility is increased enough for the chain to begin to form into crystallites, the polymer will shrink, since the crystallites occupy less volume than the amorphous regions.
