Noncommercial organizations

Another approach is to take a guess at the organization s likely Web address. For example, the National Rifle Association is commonly known by the acronym NRA, so it is not a surprise that the organization s web site is at www.nra.org. (Note that noncommercial organization sites normally use the. mrg suffix, government agencies use. goal, educational institutions have. edu, and businesses use. com.) This technique can save time but does not always work. [Pg.144]

To achieve sustainable development will require action by the international community, national governments, commercial and noncommercial organizations, and individual action by citizens from a wide variety of disciplines. Acknowledgment of sustainable development has been taken forward into policy by many governments including most world powers notably in Europe [4], China [5], and the United States [6]. [Pg.1]

The European Centre for Ecotoxicology and Toxicology of Chemicals AISBL (ECETOC) is a scientific, nonprofit, noncommercial association founded in 1978. ECETOC is financed by over 45 companies with interests in the manufacture or use of chemicals. A stand-alone organization, it was established to provide a scientific forum in which the extensive specialist expertise of the European industry associated with chemicals, specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, consumer products, and food could be harnessed to research, review, assess, and publish studies on the ecotoxicology and toxicology of chemicals. The main objective of these activities is to identify, evaluate, and minimize any potentially adverse effects on health or the environment that might arise from the manufacture and use of chemicals. [Pg.2895]

A growing number of web sites have been developed for pediatric medication information. Most university teaching hospitals and children s medical centers have web sites that include educational programs. For example, the University of Virginia Children s Medical Center web site offers tutorials for health care providers on attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder and cerebral palsy, as well as the institution s Pediatric Pharmacotherapy newsletter. - In addition, many professional organizations for pediatric health care practitioners have web sites, as well as mailing lists, chat rooms, or electronic bulletin boards. Two other useful resources on the Internet are PEDINFO and Harriet Lane Links, the latter sponsored by The Johns Hopkins University. These two noncommercial web sites provide a large number of links to pediatrics-related sites, as well as some feedback on the quality of information contained on many of the linked sites. Table 3 lists these web sites and several others that may be of interest to pediatric clinical pharmacists. [Pg.682]

The R D exemption from SNUR requirements is different from the PMN R D exemption in several respects. The most significant difference is that SNURs apply to noncommercial research laboratories, which are otherwise exempt from the PMN requirements. The SNUR regulations do not have any counterpart to the PMN regulations at 40 C.F.R. 720.30(i) which exempts noncommercial research conducted in laboratories by academic, government, or independent not-for-profit research organizations (e.g., universities, colleges, teaching hospitals, and research institutes). ... [Pg.433]

Best results were obtained with noncommercial AC-40 + CMC plates and, in particular, on layers of microcrystalline cellulose triacetate (MCTA Fluka, Switzerland) + CMC for all the investigated racemates with the exception of 1,1 -bi-2-naphthol, l-(l-naphthyl)ethanol, and flurbiprofen. The addition of silica gel GF254 to plates prepared with MCTA and the use of aqueous organic eluents, containing high percentages of water, also yielded the resolution of ( )-flurbiprofen (see Table 4.2). [Pg.69]
