Nitrogen Systems. - Monoaza-Compounds. Gas-phase pyrolysis of the condensation product (532) of pyrrole-2-aldehyde with Meldrum s acid gives pyrrolizin-3-one (533). The acid chloride (535) is produced by the action of phosphorus pentachloride on the pyrrole derivative (534). Treatment of the enamine (536) with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate in methanol yields, inter alia, the diester (537). A -Dehydropyrrolizidine undergoes dimerization to yield mainly compound (538), The pyrroloindoloquinone (540) is produced by irradiation of the benzoquinone derivative (539). °  [Pg.273]

Dehydropyrrolizidine (701) yields the azocenone (702) on methylation followed by hydrolysis. Treatment of hexahydropyrrolocarbazole (703) with chloro-benzene-p-sulphonyl azide in chloroform affords the rearranged irans-fused compound (704 Ar = P-CIC6H4), whereas the c/5-isomer is produced in dimethyl sulphoxide.  [Pg.206]

Diaza-compounds. The pyrrolo-pyrazole derivative (705) is one of the products of the action of acids on the tosylhydrazone H2C=CMe(CH2)2CH=N—NHTos. The reaction of 2,5,5-trimethyl-l-pyr-roline iV-oxide (706) with the ketenimine Ph2C=C=NPh yields the pyrrolo-imidazole (707)/ Pyrazolidin-3-one and 3-chloropropanoyl chloride combine to form the dioxopyrazolopyrazole (708)/ Irradiation of l-(o-iodoben-zoyl)imidazole (709 R=H) produces the indolobenzimidazolinone (710) the [Pg.206]

2-methyl-derivative (709 R = Me) undergoes photocyclization at the benzene ring, yielding (711).  [Pg.207]

There is available a large amount of qualitative information about the nitration of heterocyclic compounds, but quantitative information is still not very extensive, being limited to nitrogen systems. [Pg.190]

The mistake was found when the customer looked at his weighbridge figures and noticed that on arrival the tanker had weighed 3 tons more than usual. A check then showed that the plant nitrogen system contained 30% oxygen. [Pg.100]

The use of azide reagents is also important for the synthesis of cyclic sulfur(VI)-nitrogen systems. The reaction of SOCI2 with sodium azide in acetonitrile at -35°C provides a convenient preparation of the trimeric sulfanuric chloride [NS(0)C1]3 (Eq. 2.16). " Thionyl azide, SO(N3)2 is generated by the heterogeneous reaction of thionyl chloride vapour with silver azide (Eq. 2.17). This thermally unstable gas was characterized in situ by photoelectron spectroscopy. The phenyl derivative of the six-membered ring [NS(0)Ph]3 can be prepared from lithium azide and PhS(0)Cl. ... [Pg.23]

The bulk of enamine studies since Stork s original publication have focused on establishing the breadth and limitations of individual substitution reactions and on extending the list of useful electrophiles. In addition, auxiliary studies have enriched our knowledge about the ambident nature of the vinyl nitrogen system, stereoelectronic factors governing its reactivity, its stability and spectroscopic properties. An increasing number of synthetic applications of these fundamental studies can be expected in future years. [Pg.314]

Enamines in which the vinyl nitrogen system is in conjugation with another functional group can be obtained from reactions of secondary amines with /8-ketoaldehydes and -diketones or their monoenol ether or vinyl halide derivatives (41-46). [Pg.318]

Pressure affects the gases in a system much more than it affects the liquid or solids. We will investigate the same ammonia, hydrogen, nitrogen system discussed above. If the system is at equilibrium, what will an increase in pressure by the chemist do to the equilibrium The system will shift to try to reduce the stress, as required by Le Chatelier s principle. How can this system reduce its own pressure By reducing the total number of moles present. It can shift to the right to produce 2 mol of gas for every 4 mol used up ... [Pg.287]

The reactions of heterocyclic chalcogen-nitrogen systems often result in substantial reorganization of their structural frameworks. Spectroscopic techniques alone are rarely sufficient to provide decisive structural information, and X-ray crystallography has been of paramount importance in the development of chalcogen-nitrogen chemistry. The structural chemistry of Se-N and Te-N compounds has been reviewed.19... [Pg.224]

Generalized valence bond interaction energies were computed for mono/poly-nitrogenous five- and six-membered heterocycles.203 Results that diverged from those obtained by other methods were obtained only for poly-nitrogenous systems such as pyridazine, benzotriazole, and tetrazole, which may confirm Bird s earlier finding123 204 that electron delocalization is not a stand-alone and direct measure of aromaticity for nitrogenous heterocyclic compounds. [Pg.25]
