Modified Nitriles

Cyclodextrines, modified with 2-cyanoethyl and with bis(2-cyanoethyl)amino groups were used as ligands in the [PdCy + [CuCU]-catalyzed Wacker-oxidation of 1-octene. Without the modified cyclodextrins the yield of 2-octanone was less than 1 %, which could be raised to 73 % by the addition of nitrile-modified P-cyclodextrin ligands (60 °C, 2 h). [Pg.239]

Primer Epoxy vs. Nitrile-Modified Epoxy. The compatibility of the epoxy-polyamide primer with the nitrile-modified epoxy adhesive facsimile and the aluminum oxide surface was also evaluated by the wedge test, since earlier tests using the primer as the adhesive had failed immediately. As shown in Fig. 8, the addition of the primer directly to the prepared... [Pg.241]

The corrosion resistance and polymer-bonding compatibilities of the lonizable organophosphonates and the neutral organo-silanes are directly related to their inherent chemical properties. Specifically, NTMP inhibits the hydration of AI2O2 and maintains or Improves bond durability with a nitrile-modified epoxy adhesive which is cured at an elevated temperature. The mercaptopropyl silane, in addition to these properties, is compatible with a room temperature-cured epoxy-polyamide primer and also exhibits resistance to localized environmental corrosion. These results, in conjunction with the adsorbed Inhibitor films and the metal substrate surfaces, are subsequently discussed. [Pg.245]

Adsorbed NTMP exhibits a pH-dependent surface coverage on anodized aluminum, which Includes a region characterized by a multilayer of hydrogen-bonded phosphonate molecules. These thick layers are weak and fall to provide good bond durability in a humid environment. NTMP monolayers are protective against hydration and are compatible with a nitrile-modified epoxy adhesive, but not with an epoxy-polyamide primer topcoat. [Pg.248]

Processable Aromatic Nitrile-Modified Imide Precursors... [Pg.285]

The first step in making TSTR cross-linked polyimides is to synthesize the processable aromatic nitrile-modified imide precursors of the type (I), (II) and (III)... [Pg.285]

The key to the success of this process is a combination of specific catalysts and optimum reaction conditions. Effective catalysts for trimerization of aromatic nitriles are listed in Table I (4 ). Optimum reaction conditions for processing the aromatic nitrile-modified imide precursors depend on the chemical structure and characteristic property of the individual precursor of concern. In general, yield of the polymeric products increases with the increase of reaction temperature, pressure, time, and concentration of catalyst within the range of practical experimental limits (5 ). [Pg.287]

The application of ILs as carbon precursors is an attractive field within the research area of carbon chemistry. Nitrile-containing task-specific ILs and DESs are a promising class of monomers for the synthesis of carbonaceous materials. The architecture of TSlLs allows for a wide combination of nitrile-modified cations and anions, tailoring the properties of the resulting porous solids. The attractive properties of IL-derived nitrogen-doped carbons make them a promising material for potential application in CO2 separation from flue gas. [Pg.11]

Columns Pure silica, diol, or nitrile modified silica as well as ODS materials are used in P-SFC for herbicide separation. It is to be noted that in SFC all the cited phases behave as normal phases. This means that the stationary phase is always more polar than the mobile phase and, accordingly, the solutes are separated in order of increasing polarity. Reproducibility of retention data is very good, contrarily to NP-LC. Serially coupling two or more of the same type of columns will result in a fair increase of the efficiency while serially coupling of different columns can be a key in controlling selectivity. [Pg.2072]

Applied stress will, however, cause an adhesive bond to degrade at a faster rate than an unstressed bond, although stress-relief primers, such as vinyl-phenolic, or stress-relief adhesives, such as nitrile-modified phenolics, will minimize bond degradation due to stress. ... [Pg.231]

Intra-assay precision for trazodone (100 pg L ) and m- CPP (5 pg L ) was 1.5 and 2.8%, respectively. Ohkubo et al used UV detection (254 nm) for trazodone and coulometric detection (PGE, -I-0.84V vs Pd) for m-CPP. The analysis was performed using a octyl-modified silica column with acetonitrile-aq. potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate (5gL ) (23 -1-77), final pH adjusted to pH 2.5 with orthophosphoric acid, as eluent. Plasma (1 mL) was extracted by SPE on nitrile-modified silica cartridges. Pilsicainide (Figure 6.20) was used as the internal standard. The LoDs for trazodone and m-CPP were 50 and 2.5 pgL, respectively. Note that at the electrometer sensitivity required to determine m-CPP, the EC response to the parent compound would have been beyond the linear range of the coulometric detector. [Pg.127]

NPA and its potential pro-drug, / -10,11-methylenedioxy-A/-propylnorapomor-phine, have been measured in monkey plasma. Samples were prepared by SPE on ODS-modified columns and the residue divided so that the electroactive catechol could be separated (nitrile-modified silica HPLC column) and detected at a GCE (+0.7 V vs Ag/AgCl). The pro-drug was analysed on an octyl-modified HPLC column with detection at 280 nm. The LoDs were 0.5 and lOpgL for NPA and the methylenedioxy derivative, respectively. The corresponding /V-methyl homo-logues were used as internal standards. [Pg.142]

The model is applied to styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymers, pol3mrethanes, and nitrile-modified epoxide polymers. Kaelble discusses the particular advantages of block copol3nners as elastomeric and structural adhesives. [Pg.176]
