New project proposals

Finally, one must not accept the argument that too much money and effort already went into the project and that it needs only some further investment to rescue it. Decisions must be based on the future perspective of the project. The past, including all money spent, does not count. The project should be evaluated in exactly the same way as a new project proposal and using the same kind of information. If in the new scenario, chances and risks, cost and time to develop the product do not justify the continuation of the project, it should be stopped based upon objective and rational arguments, but not because someone failed. 

What would be a better target for the indication and how would I approach it [new project proposal, all of the above issues]... 

Participation under European Commission program in new project proposals in the development and integration of nanotechnology and biomaterials. 

The Design Project will be treated as a test of the ability of the candidate to tackle a practical problem in the same way as might be expected if he were required to report as a chemical engineer on a new manufacturing proposal. The answers to the Design Project should be derived by the application of fundamental principles to available published data, they should on no account include confidential details of plant or processes which may have been entrusted to the candidate. Particular credit will be given to concise answers. 

In addition, two other major efforts have been announced to develop coal gasification facilities in northwestern New Mexico. These proposed plants would be based on an extension of the Lurgi technology which has been used in Europe for many years. The first is a project proposed by El Paso Natural Gas Co., and the second is a proposal by a consortium composed of Pacific Lighting Service Co., Texas Eastern Transmission Corp., and Utah International, Inc. Each of these projects calls for the construction of one or more gasification plants, each capable of producing about 250 million cubic feet per day, and would utilize some of the extensive coal reserves of the area.

The relief was short-lived, however. A few months after Pumalin became a sanctuary, a consortium of power companies led by Endesa announced a huge new project—four enormous dams on Patagonia s two largest and most wild rivers, the Pascua and the Baker, as part of a large-scale hydroelectric project to provide power for development to the north. If the project is carried out as proposed, thousands of acres of virgin forestland will be flooded, and even more will have to be cut down for service roads, substations, and power transmission lines. 

The Sasol Chevron global alliance announced in 2004 the next phase of the projects proposed for Qatar (i) an expansion of the 34 000 bpsd Oryx GTL plant to a total capacity of 100 000 bpsd by 2009, and (ii) a new 130 000 bpsd upstream/downstream integrated project by 2010. These projects will include production of FT-derived Base Oils (41). Additional prospects are under evaluation in Australia and Algeria. 

The preliminary stage is applied to a new project. The introduction of a new item requires a simple majority vote of the respective committee member bodies. This stage has no target dates to be considered. The advantage of working without time pressme can be used to prepare a carefully thought out initial draft for the proposal stage.
