Postmortem brain samples for our studies were obtained from the M RC London Brain Bank for Neruodegenerative Diseases, Institute of Psychiatry. The AD patients fulfilled the National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke and Alzheimer s Disease and Related Disorders Association (NINCDS/ADRDA) criteria for probable AD (Mirra et al., 1991).
