National Institute for Engineering Ethics (NIEE), www.niee.org (accessed August 10, 2010). Hosted by Texas Tech University, the NIEE Web site promotes cooperation across engineering organizations toward an understanding of ethics. [Pg.31]

The National Institute for Engineering Ethics at Texas Tech University (2011) provides useful guidelines. The nine-step process, more formally called. Guidelines for Facilitating Solutions to Ethical Dilemmas in Professional Practice, is quoted here, except for parenthetic comments ... [Pg.371]

National Institute for Engineering Ethics (Texas Tech University) www.niee.oig ... promoting the study and application of ethics in engineering education... Cases, complete courses, codes No direct international content... [Pg.179]

Three other intra-organizational innovations deserve brief mention. First, the National Institute of Engineering Ethics (NllE), the lEBE, and the Online Ethics Center for Engineering and Research (OEC) once had ethics hot lines or help lines that engineers could use anonymously to report ethics concerns or seek information and advice about ethics issues they were facing at work. Those services no longer exist. [Pg.237]

The National Institute of Engineering Ethics has been housed in the Murdoch Center for Engineering Professionalism at Texas Tech University since 2001. See http //www.depts. ttu.edu/murdoughcenter/center/index.php and http //www.depts.ttu.edu/murdoughcenter/center/ niee/index.php... [Pg.237]

See, for example, the codes of ethics of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). Other engineering society codes espouse essentially the same idea in different words. [Pg.16]

The American Institute of Chemists, 60 East 42nd Street, New York 17, was established in 1923 to promote the professional status and academic standards of chemists and chemical engineers. As such it is not concerned with science itself, but with the individual, and the recognition of his importance in the national life. The Institute has aided education with its recommendations for curricula and has evolved a code of ethics for its members. A gold medal is awarded annually for meritorious contributions to the science of chemistry or to the profession, and awards are also made to students. The Institute publishes monthly a journal The Chemist devoted to the aims of its programme. [Pg.183]
