Several factors affect a team s chemistry and success with innovation. Motivation is one factor, and there are known approaches for managing this. Level is another success factor, and it refers to (a) a person s current knowledge and/or skill and (b) a person s potential capacity for problem solving. We also have sound and established instruments (tests and IQ measurements, for example) for assessing these dimensions. Then there are resources—such as materials, money, machines, and tools—and these are typically well known. 

Effects on motivational factors, which could conceivably affect alternation behaviour, have been considered by analyzing the behaviour of treated and untreated...

Pneumatic conveyor performance is determined by the following factors (1) primary-driver output (2) internal surface of the piping or ductwork and (3) condition of the transported material. Specific factors affecting performance include motive power, friction loss, and flow restrictions. 

Another issue with RMM is that there is a lack of feedback loops in the model. The only feedback shown in the model is onto the somatic markers, via sensory storage, from the outside influence of other road users, vehicles, and the road environment. It also seems to suggest that personality, motives, interaction patterns, and other factors affecting driving are completely stable, and only arise from deep motivations. 

Factors affecting situation awareness Two factors that affect situation awareness are workload and stress. Unusually high or low workloads are considered to potentially impact performance of humans to a certain degree [. Low workload can result in boredom with consequent inattentiveness, significantly reduced motivation, and lower vigilance. Furthermore, when less attention is being given to workplace conditions or situations that, in turn, can lead to poor situation awareness. 

Our discussion group did, however, agree that we should try to develop objective, process-based measures for our quality—or safety—objectives. Although we cannot measure every important process directly, defining and tracking desired actions or behaviors guide proper procedures and motivate continuous improvement. In other words, the quote from Hansen (1994) at the start of this chapter is accurate, but it does not say it all. Many factors affect performance. Not only is it impossible to monitor all of them, it is often impossible to identify the specific change in performance that led to an improved system. 

It should be an interesting research topic to explore and analyse the differences in motivational factors between companies applying the two methods and how they affect the final results.
