Motion picture equipment

Though the basic machinery for motion pictures had been invented, the inventors realized that people would not be satisfied for long with the sheer novelty of the experience. Motion picture equipment was like a computer without any software. To make the invention useful, its software— namely interesting motion pictures— needed to be created. 

In addition, since most of their compounds would duplicate analogous sodium and potassium compounds, there are relatively few commercial uses of rubidium or cesium. In areas in which they do find application, generally speaking, cesium is preferred over rubidium. Cesium, and to a lesser extent rubidium, is used in photocells, televisions, motion picture equipment, and luminescent screens. Cesium is also used in spectrographic instruments and vapor arc lamps.

Research. Much of the research on commercial-size distiUation equipment is being done by Fractionation Research, Inc. (FRI), a nonprofit, industry-sponsored, research corporation. The industrial sponsors are fabricators, designers, and constmctors, or users of distiUation equipment. PubHcations include Hquid mixing on sieve plates (91), bubble cap plate efficiency (92), and sieve plate efficiency (93,94). A motion picture of downcomer performance is also avaUable (95). References 96 and 97 cover the Hterature from 1967 to 1990. 

From the standpoint of general interest the variations in the musculature of human hands are worthy of attention, especially so since it is often supposed that the human hand is a standard piece of equipment which all normal people possess. The writer has seen a magnificently produced motion picture using a highly involved model, which showed just how every intricate movement of "the hand" is made. There was no hint, however, that hands do not all work in the same way. 

The principle of cool storage was used many years ago when motion picture theaters introduced air-conditioning to the general public. Precooling of the theater prior to opening and during off-peak load hours saved on electricity costs and also cut down on the investment in air-condihomng equipment. 

Use Cleaning electronic and mechanical instruments and controls, degreasing motors, cleaning liquid oxygen equipment, and motion-picture and television film and magnetic tape. 

Data on motion picture and television film production and projection equipment are to be found in the Journal of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (30) published monthly by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, Inc., of New York. In addition, items on new products and new equipment and processes are included. 

ANSI standards cover a variety of prodncts, materials, and equipment that is used both in highly specialized fields and in nearly all other areas of modern life. ANSI publishes standards on ceramic tiles, chemical process equipment, home appliances, electronics equipment, motion picture film and equipment, acids, refractory materials, oil burners, office machines and supplies, hospital supplies, and combustion engines. 

Other instrumentation in the tank included a tree of hot-wire liquid—gas detector probes to determine the approximate liquid level in relation to the upper tap, a mercury manometer sensing the tank ullage pressure, and three temperature probes in the water manometers to determine the water temperature. Additional equipment was installed near the end of the test program. This included a motion picture camera to observe the appearance of the surface of the liquid oxygen and a float device for the accurate measurement of the level drop when boiling was halted by pressurization of the tank.
