Mold specification

The entire cycle takes only a few seconds, and therefore the open container is only minimally exposed to the surroimding clean room/air shower environment. The mold then opens and the filled containers surroimded by excess polymer are released. Excess plastic is removed (typically on line by means of a mold-specific cropping tool). 

The FTMS method allows us to follow changes in several parameters that carry information on the role of different mechanisms during formation of an end-product by reactive molding. Specifically, the development of fluctuating entanglements of long-chain macromolecules can be distinguished from the appearance of rubber-like three-dimensional networks of chemical bonds. 

Different IMMs meet different qualitative requirements to mold specific parts such as dry cycle, injection rate, injection pressure,... 

The first major systematic studies on microbial hydroxylations were reports from the Upjohn Co. that strains of Mucorales molds, specifically Rhizopus arrhizus, grown in aerated culture were capable of the lla-hydroxylation of progesterone (I, R = H) and Rcichstein s Compound S (1, R = OH). 

Polyimide-Based Syntactic Foam (9). Three-phase syntactic foams were made using a polyimide solution (22% PI-2080 in DMF) and hollow glass microspheres (Type B-30-B, 3M Co.) which have a particle density of 0.25 to 0.30 cm and a bulk density of 0.182 g/cm . The solution and glass spheres were hand mixed and packed into a 5" x 5" mold and compacted under pressure. Variations of foam density were obtained by molding specific quantities of blend into different volumes ranging from Vi to 1" in thickness. Greater densities required higher pressures with the maximum density obtained at a pressure of about 100 psi. 

The injection molding specifics of inhibited composites consist first of all in the necessity of accurate metering of components and preparation of the extruded composition containing a liquid-phase ingredient. The simplest and nonetheless most efficient method of preparing the composition is biending of the polymer powder with the liquid PI followed by addition of granules of the same polymer [139].

To generate an NC program, the molding geometry is transferred from the CAD into the processing module. Once the material, mold specification, and other process data have been entered, the milling paths for the cavity or electrode are calculated automatically. Further data such as rpm and feeds are selected from mold and material libraries on the basis of the input data. The NC program thus created can then be interactively simulated on the monitor, completely or step-by-step, and altered as necessary. 

The described mold specifications clearly indicate the complexity of the designer s tasks. In his work, designers are assisted by numerous computerized aids. Computer-aided design has become fully established and widely accepted by now. This is not least due to the increased efficiency of affordable PCs and work stations.
