Microwave striplines

Aluminum-clad flexible circuits find use in microwave stripline and radiation-resistance applications. Aluminum and its alloys have good electrical conductivity, are lightweight, and can be plated, soldered, brazed, chem-milled, and anodized with good results. Laminate dielectrics include PPO, polyimide, " epoxy-glass, and polyester. 

MMICS were developed for DoD applications such as radar and weapons systems, but have found commercial inroads with cellular phone, satellite and transmit/receive modules for phased array radar and power amplifiers. They may also find great use in collision avoidance applications. MIMICs typically are made up of GaAs FET amplifiers, resistors, capacitors stripline inductors and other elements. Various schemes for hybrid quantum processors based on molecular ensembles as quantum memories and optical interfaces have been proposed. In Ref. [17], a hybrid quantum circuit using ensembles of cold polar molecules with solid-state quantum processors is discussed. As described above, the quantum memory is realized by collective spin states (ensemble qubit), which are coupled to a high-Q stripline cavity via microwave Raman processes. As described by Pescia and coworkers, pickup coils were devised to operate with sample resonators that operated at specific microwave frequencies, that is, a wire helix (0.2 GHz), a stripline (0.7 GHz), and a cavity (4, 8-12 GHz, operated in reflection mode). As a representative example, the cavity resonator that is used at X-band is illustrated in Figure 2 (detailed diagrams of the helix and stripline resonators may be foxmd in Ablart Pescia, 1980). Here the saddle-shaped pickup coil is woxmd around the sample holder tube inside the cavity. In each case the pickup coil is tuned at frequency QJItz by a variable capacitor and connected to a selective receiver via a low-noise impedance matching circuit.
