Pickup coil

FIGURE 3.6 Geometry of pickup coils in second-order gradiometers used in SQUID magnetometers. The sample is moved along the z-axis through the coils. [Pg.83]

A CW NMR spectrometer (Figure 3.14) consists of a control console, magnet (typically electromagnets or permanent magnets are used), and two orthogonal coils (transmitter and sweep coils) of wire that serve as antennas for rf radiation. One coil is attached to an rf transmitter and the other coil is the rf amplifier (pickup) coil and is attached to the detection electronics. [Pg.135]

Another type of electrical pressure transducer is a variable-reluctance device. The deflections of a diaphragm of magnetic stainless steel are sensed by two inductance pickup coils. With ac-bridge circuitry, this transducer delivers a full-scale output of 40 mV per volt for a variety of ranges from 0 4 Torr (0- 0.08 PSIA) to 0- 3200 PSIA. [Pg.650]

Question by H. Kartiuke, Aeroprojects, Inc. What is the location of the pickup coil on the magnetostric-tive type sensor ... [Pg.422]

Anszoer by Author Both the driving coil and the pickup coil are wound around the tubular mangeto-strictive element. The exact location and the method of winding and potting the coils is the manufacturers proprietary information. [Pg.422]

The teeth of the wheel pass near the pickup coil. The pickup typically consists of a housing containing a small permanent magnet with a coil wound around it. A fixed magnetic field surrounds the pickup. When the teeth of the wheel pass through the field, a voltage pulse is induced in the coil. The frequency of the pulses depends on the number of teeth and the speed of rotation. Since the number of teeth is known, the pulse frequency can be related directly to the rotational speed. The pulses can be measured by a frequency counter or they can be converted to a DC voltage. [Pg.109]
