2-Methoxyethyl esters

Using essentially the same reduction technique, 2-methoxyethyl esters have been converted into aldehydes [13] via the dioxalonium cations (Scheme 11.2) in a manner superior to earlier recorded procedures. Although there is a potential for diborane to be formed in the last step, no subsequent reactions involving this species have been observed. [Pg.478]

Lipase-Catalyzed Hydrolysis of N-Protected Dipeptide 2-Methoxyethyl Esters General Procedure ... [Pg.312]

N-Protected dipeptide 2-methoxyethyl esters (3 mmol) were dissolved in acetone (5-15 mL). 0.2 M Na2P04 buffer ( 50 mL, pH 7) was added, and the mixture was warmed to 37 °C. After addition of lipase from Aspergillus niger (300 mg), the mixture was shaken for 15 h to 2 d at 37 °C, then sat. with NaQ, and the dipeptide extracted with EtOAc. If necessary, AcOH was added before extraction. The organic layer was dried (MgS04) and the solvent removed. The residue was purified by flash chromatography (EtOAc/AcOH 100 1). The partially deprotected dipeptides were obtained in 79-94% 5tields. [Pg.312]

Representative Chemicals Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) Diisononyl phthalate (DINP) Diethyl phthalate (DEP) Di-N-butylphthalate Dimethylphthalate Methyl-glycol phthalate Phthalic acid Bis(2-methoxyethyl) ester. Eor the purposes of this article, the focus will be on DEHP, which is the most widely used phthalate, with some discussion of DINP since it has been the subject of controversy with regards to its possible adverse effects on children s health. [Pg.2006]

PHTHALIC ACID, BIS(2-METHOXYETHYL)ESTER (121-45-9) Forms explosive mixture with air (flash point 130°F/54°C oc 82°F/28°C cc). Reacts with water. Incompatible with air, moisture, strong bases. Violent reaction with strong acids, nitrates, oxidizers, magnesium perchlorate. Store and handle under nitrogen blanket. [Pg.987]

Conversion of carboxylic acids to aldehydes. Raber and Guida have reported a general method for partial reduction of carboxylic acids to aldehydes. The acid is converted into the 2-methoxyethyl ester (1), which is then alkylated with triethyloxonium tetrafluoroborate in CH2CI2. Crystalline 1,3-dioxolanium tetrafluoroborates (2) are obtained by initial alkylation of the methoxy oxygen... [Pg.564]
