In 1970, the U.S. government passed the original Controlled Substances Act, and under this law methamphetamine was classified as a Schedule II drug in its injectable form and a Schedule III in its noninjectable (pill) form. However, a year later, both forms of methamphetamine were reclassified as Schedule II drugs. Today, it is still sold under the name Des-oxyn for a few medical uses, such as for the treatment of atten-tion-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy.

I was really shocked to learn that Desoxyn was lust a brand name for methamphetamine and even more shocked to find that I couldn t stop taking it. If I tried to cut down the dose or stop, I would be groggy, depressed, and unable to concentrate or do my school work. I would also eat a lot and gam weight. By the way, I also drank a lot of coffee and smoked cigarettes, so I was really a heavy user of stimulants.
