Metal neutral

Introduction of metalized neutral density filters in FLIM systems should be done cautiously as artifacts have been observed due to single or multiple reflections between pairs of ND filters. [Pg.88]

A well-known example of benzene coordination to a non-metallic neutral Lewis acid is given by the binary CT complex with tetracyanoethylene (TONE),88... [Pg.676]

When the secondary ion is close to the surface, there is a chance that an electron from the surface of the metal neutralizes it. This process becomes more likely if the work function of the metal is lower. In other words, a high work function prevents neutralization and is favorable for positive ion emission. [Pg.102]

Of the modern ideas implicit in this book, the most important ones that become explicit in the next few decades are the concept of neutral salt as a combination of an acid with a base, that is, an alkali, an earth, or a metal. Neutral salts also provide the best examples of material composition as confirmed by analysis and synthesis. [Pg.73]

We propose that the alkali metal neutralizes the hydroxyl groups on the catalyst surface and prevents the chemisorption of substrates on the acidic center of the support. [Pg.365]

Aqueous sulfuric acid behaves as a strong acid in most systems and forms salts with most metals by a variety of routes, such as reaction of the acid with the metal, neutralization of a metal oxide or hydroxide, or decomposition of metal carbonates. In organic synthesis, it is most well known for its use with nitric acid as a reagent for the nitration of aromatics (equation 24) via the N02 cation. [Pg.4622]

The properties of the lanthanide elements and their organometallic complexes described in the previous section explain in part why organo-met lic chemists in the past found lanthanide chemistry much less interesting than transition metal chemistry. The highly ionic, trivalent organolanthanide complexes appeared to have little potential to interact with the small-molecule substrates that provide such a rich chemistry for the transition metals neutral unsaturated hydrocarbons, H2, CO, phosphines, etc. The two-electron oxidation reduction cycles so important in catalytic transition metal chemistry in 18 16 electron complexes seemed... [Pg.134]

Cleaning Up Place the manganese dioxide precipitate in the hazardous waste container for heavy metals. Neutralize the aqueous solution with sodium carbonate and flush it down the drain. [Pg.267]

Relative to alkali metals, neutral Lewis acids seem to perform much more consistently. Crystal stmc-ture of the BFs/benzaldehyde complex may serve as a representative example (Figure 19). Here the Lewis acid is placed 1.59 A from the carbonyl oxygen, along the direction of the oxygen lone pair and anti to the larger phenyl substituent. ... [Pg.300]

When there are organic neutral substances on the metal side of the oHp, there is also substitution of solvent molecules by neutral molecules and metal-neutral substances interactions are observed, they could also alter the metal-solvent interactions in some cases the adsorption-desorption peaks can be observed [see Section... [Pg.58]

A thermopolastic elastomer based on sulfonated-EPDM, S-EPDM, was developed in the 1970 s by Exxon and more recently by Uniroyal. Unlike the synthesis of the carboxylate ionomers described above, S-EPDM is prepared by a post-polymerization sulfonatlon reaction(28). Compared to the metal neutralized S-EPDM, the sulfonic acid derivative is not highly associated. The free acid materials possess low strengths and are less thermally stable. The metal salts of S-EPDM have properties comparable to crosslInked elastomers, but they do exhibit viscous flow at elevated temperatures. In the absence of a polar cosolvent, such as methanol, hydrocarbon solutions of the metal salts of S-EPDM are solid gels at polymer concentrations above several percent(31). With the addition of 1 to 5% alcohol the polymer solution becomes fluid with solution viscosities of the order of 10 to 100 poise. [Pg.10]

Part of the ionization of the metallic neutral species X may occur during ablation, but most of the ions are probably produced by photoionization... [Pg.557]

Recently there has been considerable work on metal-neutralized sulfonated elastomers (23,24,25). The effect of various monovalent and divalent cations on physical properties of sulfonated ethylene-propylene-diene monomers (EPDM s) has been investigated and large differences have been found in both melt-flow rates and tensile properties, depending on the cation used. [Pg.57]

Although polynuclear alkyne completes are often prepared by reaction of the alkyne with a suitable metal cluster fragment, heteropolynuclear complexes 69 (Scheme 4-38) have been obtained also by isolobal metal fragment substitution, as noted previously [26]. Higher-nuclearity alkyne complexes also can be produced by the addition of various metal carbonyl fragments to a lower-nuclearity alkyne complex [119], A novel entry to heterobi- (and tri-)metallic neutral p-propargyl complexes (e.g., Fe/Mo) via protonation of trinuclear p-Ti, T1 -o-propargyl derivatives 70 was recently described by Wojcicki and coworkers [120,121]. [Pg.115]
