Mechanical levers

The switch itself is installed on the top of the storage tank. As the tank fills and pressure builds, the calibrated metallic bourdon tube bends. When the cutoff pressure level is reached, a mechanical lever is thrown and switches the current off. When the tank pressure falls to the startup pressure level, the mechanical arm is activated and the electrolyzer turns on again.

Servomechanisms used in automated systems check and monitor system parameters and adjust operating conditions to maintain the desired system output. The principles upon which they operate can range from crude mechanical levers to sophisticated and highly accurate digital electronic-measurement devices. All employ the principle of feedback to control or regulate the corresponding process that is in operation. 

On the other hand, if there are fewer turns in the secondary than in the primary, then there will be a lower voltage. However, more current could then be gotten from the secondary, again depending on the ratio of turns. This is analogous to a mechanical lever, where higher speed can only be at lower force.

The relation is called the lever rule by analogy to a stationary mechanical lever, each end of which has the same value of the product of applied force and distance from the fulcrum. 

Figure 6.19c shows a cross-sectional view of the lens cell in a flat state. The liquid was incompressible. When an external pressure was applied to deform the outer elastic rubber inward, the liquid in the lens chamber was redistributed, forcing the inner elastic membrane to swell outward. As shown in Figure 6.19d, the result was a planoconvex lens and the incident light could be focused. To activate the liquid lens, an electrically controlled actuator or mechanical lever could be employed. 

It does not require electricity it is manually powered by the use of force and mechanical levers.
