Power, manual

This can be achieved manually by running so-caUed forward simulations, in which the heating powers are input data and the corresponding temperature fields are calculated. Then, the user has to change the heating powers manually by trial and error until the desired temperature field is achieved. [Pg.154]

Either powered manually or pneumatically, simple syringe dispensers offer a versatile, low-cost dispensing solution. Syringes have evolved into precision-engineered products designed to offer the accuracy, repeatability and stability required in electronics manufacturing facilities. For example, silicone and chloride-free, low-friction polypropylene syringe bodies are available in amber to protect the latest... [Pg.25]

Filters that output noncoherent detector statistics have, in our recent work [1], shown to be very powerful for grain noise suppression in ultrasonics. However, such filters require the operator to carefully specify a transient prototype as a model of the defect echoes which should be detected. Here a new approach is presented, based on the above ideas about perception, which eliminates the need for the operator to manually specify a defect prototype. [Pg.89]

We are sure that with this system we have developed a powerful tool to eliminate the shortcomings of manual inspection as discussed in the beginning of the article. We are also sure that this automatised test is not suitable in all applications. However, where there are many details to be tested and where these can be handled automatically, we think AMPl may be a competetive alternative which improves both the quality of inspection and the working environment. [Pg.641]

The software US-SCAN 3.0 (IBT GmbH, Ober-Ramstadt, Germany) provides all functions of a portable flaw detector and a powerful ultrasonic imaging in A-, B-, C- and D-scans. Not only motor driven scanners can he used, but also manual scanning systems with encoders. Further documentation and test reports can be carried out with Windows software. [Pg.859]

The system for shielded-metal arc welding, shown in Figure 2a, is the simplest system. It consists of the power source, electrode and holder, the base metal, and the electrical cables or leads. When the arc is stmck, a complete electrical circuit is provided. With d-c welding, the electrode maybe either negative (straight polarity) or positive (reverse polarity). Shielded metal arc welding is only used manually. [Pg.343]

Manually adjusted screw or ratchet take-ups that adjust the position of the tail pulley to control belt tension can be used on relatively short, light duty conveyors. Automatic take-ups are used on conveyors over about 25 to 30 m long. The most common is the weighted automatic gravity take-up (see Fig. la). Other types of automatic take-ups have hydrauHc or pneumatic powered devices to adjust a snub pulley position and maintain a constant belt tension. The requited take-up movement varies according to the characteristics of the belt constmction and the belt length. Typically, take-up movements for pHed belts are 2% to 3% of the center distance between head and tail pulley, and about 0.5% for steel cable belts. The take-up movements requited for soHd woven belts are usually shorter because of the lower elastic stretch. Take-up requirements for a particular situation should be confirmed by the belt manufacturer. [Pg.155]

Automatic correction is always recommended to eliminate manual dependence and to achieve better accuracy. It also elimintites the risk of a leading power factor by a human error that may cause an excessive voltage at the motor and the control gear terminals. [Pg.765]

However, power systems that cater to almost fixed loads at a time and whose variations occur only at specific times of the day may not reejuire it fast response. In such cases, it is possible to provide manual switching methods which will give enough time between two switchings. Manual switching, how ever, has certain shortcomings, due to the human factor such as its accuracy and diligence, as noted above. The recommended practice is therefore to select fast reactive controls as noted below. [Pg.803]

This part considers reactive power control with the use of shunt and series capacitors. The controls may be manual or automatic through electromagnetic or static devices. Protection of capacitors and capacitor banks as well as design, manufacturing and test requirements, installation and maintenance are also covered, the main thrust being on the application of power capacitors. [Pg.990]

Examples of strucmres for which automated assignment methods were used from the start are still rare [69,101]. However, automated methods are being used increasingly as a powerful tool in structure detennination in combination with manual assignment [102-105]. [Pg.272]

Power system stability studies can provide some insight into the effects of power failure. The calculations can become tedious if performed manually because of the iterative steps required to obtain satisfactory answers. Therefore, a computer program is used to supply the iterative answers in a short time and with comparable accuracy. [Pg.170]

Control systems ean be an open loop or elosed loop system. The open-loop system positions the manipulated variable either manually or on a programmed basis, without using any proeess measurements. A elosed loop eontrol system is one, whieh reeeives one or more measured proeess variables and then uses it to move the manipulated variable to eontrol a deviee. Most eombined eyele power plants have a elosed loop eontrol system. [Pg.635]
