Alternatively, the compound may be prepared by neutralizing an aqueous solution of disodiummethylenebis(dithiocarbamate) (Nabam) with acetic acid followed by addition of manganese(ll) chloride solution.

PPO is generally prepared by oxidative polymerization of 2,6-dimethylphenol in toluene solution in the presence of oxygen over an catalyst. Procedure.
