Machining process modeling Tool cycles

Simulations for checking of the feasibility of a cycle process input information about the controllable axes, and the relationship between axial movements and volumes moving in the working space of the machine tool. For this purpose, a simplified model is appropriate. Figure 6-23 introduces such a model by the example of a typical milling machine. In this example, the directions of the model space coordinates and the controlled axes are the same. In the case of a flexible manufacturing system with several machine tools in the model space, the directions of the controlled axes are described by vectors. The simplified model describes the direction and extent of slide movements, the structure of the machine tool. [Pg.215]

Exact graphical visualization of tool path movement with display of the geometric model and in-process shapes can be applied on entire programs, cycles, or even individual tool movements. When the part is mounted onto a machine tool model in the model space, simulation can be set for a fixed or moving work-piece. Some simple cycles are defined in the control program by only their parameters to calculate tool paths by procedures built into the machine control unit. Simulation performs calculation tool paths of these cycles. [Pg.218]
