Loading with powder

The processor was operated at atmospheric pressure and at 117—130 °C or 200 °C. A methanol-water mixture (1 1.5 molar ratio) was fed at 0.1 cm /h using a syringe pump. The reactors loaded with powder and pellets had comparable results, but the researchers preferred the powder packed bed form for its smaller volume and mass. The best hydrogen production was obtained at low temperatures, providing, on a dry gas basis, 70% hydrogen, 0.5% carbon monoxide, and residual carbon dioxide. Methanol conversion or thermal efficiency was not reported. [Pg.536]

The powder was in the form of tubes about 4 cm dia. and about 1 m long. Japanese 10-20 cm rockets were loaded with powder consisting of ... [Pg.674]

Bomb-ahelL A spherical or cylindrical case of iron loaded with powder, and burst by its charge on concussion or after an interval of time. See Shell. [Pg.132]

Powders for inhalation are not defined other than that they are presented as single-dose or multidose powders and that the active substances may be combined with a suitable carrier to facilitate their use. If the powder is for a singledose (pre-metered) inhaler, the device is loaded with powders pre-dispensed in capsules or other suitable pharmaceutical forms. For inhalers using a powder reservoir, individual doses are isolated from the bulk with a metering mechanism within the inhaler. [Pg.101]

Microcapsules are used in several film coatings other than carbonless paper. Encapsulated Hquid crystal formulations coated on polyester film are used to produce a variety of display products including thermometers. Polyester film coated with capsules loaded with leuco dyes analogous to those used in carbonless copy paper is used as a means of measuring line and force pressures (79). Encapsulated deodorants that release their core contents as a function of moisture developed because of sweating represent another commercial appHcation. Microcapsules are incorporated in several cosmetic creams, powders, and cleansing products (80). [Pg.325]

Structural binder A wide range of applications in electronics makes use of the plastics as a structural binder to hold active materials. For example, a plastic such as polyvinylidene fluoride is filled with an electroluminescent phosphor to form the dielectric element in electroluminescent lamps. Plastics are loaded with barium titanate and other high dielectric powders to make slugs for high K capacitors. The cores in high frequency transformers are made using iron and iron oxide powders bonded with a plastic and molded to form the magnetic core. [Pg.228]

Fluorocarbons (PTFE, FEP, PVF2) Powder, emulsions Excellent high temperature properties. TFE to 500 F. FEP is easier to mold, but maximum use temperature is 400 F. Nearly inert chemically. Nonflammable. Loading with conductive filler improves creep resistance. Low coefficient of friction. High-temperature cable shielding, gaskets, heat-shrinkable tubing. [Pg.390]

Similar films are obtained from powdered molecular sieves loaded with organic molecules Zeolite Y microparticles embedded into a polystyrene film and loaded with appropriately sized transition metal complexes allow selective electron exchange reactions between trapped and mobile species in the film... [Pg.59]

Since the utility of these materials is improved by the incorporation of these reactive functionalities without severely decreasing other favorable properties such as thermooxidative stability and solvent resistance the chemistry of the isoimide isomerization and acetylene crosslinking reactions is of considerable interest. Previous work in our laboratory has shown that these materials, when loaded with metal powders, provide a convenient and effective method of optimizing the electrical conductance and thermal stability of aluminum conductor joints. [Pg.460]

Gas chromatography makes use, as the stationary phase, a glass or metal column fdled either with a powdered adsorbent or a non-volatile liquid coated on a non-adsorbent powder. The mobile-phase consists of an inert-gas loaded with the vapourised mixture of solutes flowing through the stationary phase at a suitable temperature. In the course of the passage of the vapour of the sample through the column, separation of the components of the sample occurs in two ways, namely ... [Pg.432]

Sayama, K., Arakawa, H. 1992b. Remarkable effect of Na CO, addition on photodecomposition of liquid water into H, and O, from suspension of semiconductor powder loaded with various metals. Chem Lett 2 253-256. [Pg.159]

The above estimate at least partly explains why early 12-bore gun cartridges, containing 82 grains (5.3 g) of black powder, could alternatively be loaded with 26 grains (1.7 g) of double-base powder to give similar ballistic performance. [Pg.75]

Several variants of the biosensor in Scheme 5 have been proposed. One is a CPE containing at its tip a paste of graphite powder loaded with HRP and ferrocene ([Cp Fe(II) Cp]) mediator, which is further covered with a cellulose acetate film coated with Nafion. The biosensor is mounted on a FIA system in a three-electrode setup, as working electrode at a potential of 4-100 mV vs. SCSE and a Pt counterelectrode. The LOD (SNR 6) for H2O2 is 200 fmol (20 p,L injection of 10 nM solution), with linearity up to 25 In... [Pg.654]
