Load carriage systems (LCS) have been used by soldiers to cany equipment since the advent of warfare. The LCS used today by soldiers from the majority of nations have their origins in the necessity to cany speciahst mihtaiy equipment, such as different types of weaponiy, communication equipment, sensor systems, ammunition and personal survival equipment. LCS comes in many forms to adapt to the variety of environments, mihtaiy tasks and equipment it must cany, such as ... [Pg.288]

Abstract This chapter explores the role of applied human factors in mihtary load carriage equipment development, as a part of a soldier system, and outlines the basic human factor principles of load carriage, some of the current issues, the use of systematic development approaches and the relevant human systems advice by load carriage equipment sub-component. In support of systematic development a case of better practice in the area is discussed, alongside an exploration of user needs through the use of a video tool. [Pg.288]

The oven loading system was made up of a carriage via which the body was introduced into the muffle. This conveyance consisted of a carriage, which moved on special rails and on which the coffin was introduced, and of a shunting carriage running above it. [Pg.387]

Mass car production requires the minimization of the number of car components. A car is a system with four major subsystems (1) chassis, (2) frame, (3) engine with transmission and power transfer, and (4) suspension with wheels. From the structural point of view, this system transfers to the wheels the loads applied to the chassis, and all these loads flow from the chassis through the frame to the suspension. The frame also provides both the bending and torsional rigidity to the car. The frame is heavy and difficult to manufacture, and its presence in a car simply reflect the car s roots in the horse carriages these did not have any chassis, and the frame was absolutely necessary to transfer loads to the suspension and wheels. How to improve the frame ... [Pg.308]

Afrer the assemblies have been processed into bundles in the MB, th are transfenred to the HBBS for storage prior to shipping. The slug/soap buckets are also moved to the bucket storage area. A motor-operated carriage is used on an overhead monorail system to traitsport foel into and out ofthe HBBS. Hus twin-hook hoist system contains an automatic load cut-off mechanism in case it acddentally lifts a section ofthe tack (Ref 2-4, Section 9.1.2). [Pg.48]
