The journal served since vol. 1, No. 10 also as organ of the Czech sugar industrialists. News about this and other sugar industrialists associations was regularly published later in the Listy Chemicke News about the Association was often published in Listy Chemicke The Association financed for some time the journal Listy Chemicke and published there its official proceedings... [Pg.48]

The SCHC was financed largely from membership dues and apparently only a little from donations for instance the Spolek pro prumysl cukrovarnicky v Cechdch (Association for Sugar Industry in Bohemia) and K. Preis regularly subsidized the society s organ Listy Chemicke (Chemical Letters), while the state did not provide any assistance. Nevertheless, after some initial monetary difficulties, in the 1890s the economic situation of the SCHC improved, and it did not report financial problems, especially thanks to a substantial rise of the membership, which reached its peak - 448 members in 1896 then it could even afford a paid administrative secretary. [Pg.53]

The 100th anniversary of the journal Listy chemicke was commemorated in 1976 by two volumes of Chemicke listy (successor of Listy chemicke) with several articles related to the history of the journal and Czech chemistry. (Chemicke listy 70, 1976, No. 9 and 10). See especially Gut (1976) and Kostif (1976). [Pg.55]

Karel Preis was the principal organizer of the community of Czech sugar manufacturers. In 1883 he founded a separate journal Usty cukrovarnicke (Letters of Sugar Industry) solely for the needs of the sugar-refining community. Preis edited the Listy chemicke until 1896, and in 1882-1896 he paid all the expenses of the journal. [Pg.55]

On the pages of the journal Listy chemicke, most other European chemical meetings and congresses were also acknowledged, and the official representatives of the society attended all European Congresses of Applied Chemistry. [Pg.58]
