Drug treatment to lower plasma lipoproteins and/or cholesterol is primarily aimed at reducing the risk of atherosclerosis and subsequent coronary artery disease that exists in patients with elevated circulating lipids. Drug therapy is considered as an option only if non-pharmacologic interventions (altered diet and exercise) have failed to lower plasma lipids. 

LR-90 was derived from LR-16, a compound that is able to lowers cholesterol levels in rats. In our apoE KO model, no effects on lipid profile by LR-90 were detected, possibly as the effects of genetic deficiency of the lipoprotein profile overwhelms and drug associated actions. However, in the Zucker model of diabetes and dyslipidaemia lipid lowering effects have been propertied with LR-90...

The expected outcomes for die patient may include a dierapeutic response to dierapy (lowered blood lipid levels), management of common adverse drug reactions, and an understanding of die dietary measures necessary to reduce lipid and lipoprotein levels. 

These drugs are used for treatment of hyperlipidemia. They lower the levels of lipoproteins and lipids in blood. The plasma lipids are present in lipoproteins after combining with apoproteins. They are high density lipoproteins (HDL), low density lipoproteins (LDL), very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) and intermediate density lipoproteins (IDL).
