Solutions, line cleaning

Innovation in line-cleaning solutions is a fertile area in which, on a regular basis, another formulation comes along which is claimed to deliver better cleaning capability. However any independent evidence to support such claims is typically non-existent. Furthermore it is surprising how tunes are played with the composition of line-cleaning solutions, especially with regard to claims for the concentration of components. Bizarre... [Pg.349]

A CIP system includes pipelines, interconnected with valves to direct fluid to appropriate locations, and the control circuit, which consists of interlines to control the valves that direct the cleaning solutions and water through the lines, and air lines which control and move the valves. A programmer controls the timing and the air flow to the valves on a set schedule. The 3A Standards for CIP components, equipment, and installation have been developed. A simple CIP system circuit is shown in Figure 11. [Pg.361]

The advantages and disadvantages of in-line microfiltration and cross-flow filtration are compared in Table 7.2. In general, in-line filtration is preferred as a polishing operation for already clean solutions, for example, to sterilize water... [Pg.294]

On-line cleaning may be achieved by the injection of chemical solutions into the process stream. A major difficulty arises from product contamination which may persist even after the dosing has been stopped. It is essentially an adaption of offline cleaning discussed in the next section. [Pg.387]

Building on this, other variables that get in the way of effective line cleaning include cheap, cheerful, and nonoptimised cleaning solutions (with compromises on strength, surfactants to reduce surface tension, sequesterants, and chelators to bind calcium, etc.), water (cold or hand hot, hard versus soft), and, most importantly, whether the process is essentially sialic or involves movement as mechanical action. [Pg.345]

Remedial action is straightforward and as recommended by the Brewers Association (2011) draught beer quaUty manual such that every 14days all FOB-stop devices should be cleaned in line, and cleaning solution vented out of the top and every three months all FOB-stop devices should be completely disassanbled and hand-cleaned . [Pg.347]
