Laser beam processes machining

Compared to other micromachining processes such as micro-EDM, micro-USM (Ultrasonic machining), micro-LBM (laser beam machining), and tool-based micromachining, the initial setup as well as mnning cost of EMM is lesser.

Laser ablation is one of the laser machining processes in which materials are removed in vapor or plasma form directly from the solid state by irradiation of an intense pulsed laser beam. 

Laser Beam Machining. A machining process in which material is removed by melting or vaporization with high energy focussed laser beams. Very precise localised heating is possible, by which means, for example, fine holes may be drilled in highly refractory materials.

The laser beam offers the advantage of precise machining, even in places or on materials that cannot be processed with the conventional welding methods.
