A major scientific obstacle to the development of a safe and effective vaccine is the difficulty in establishing the precise correlates of protective immunity against HIV infection. A number of factors such as lack of an adequate animal model, lack of incentives, and genetic variability coupled with the relatively poor understanding of the immunologic mechanisms that confer protection have stymied the development of an effective HIV vaccine as of this time. 

Solvent extraction deals with the transport of chemical substances from one phase into another one, the chemical kinetics of this process, and the final equilibrium distribution of the substances between the two phases. Such transport and distribution processes are the motors that make life in biological systems possible. Fundamental studies of such solvent extraction processes contribute to the better understanding of all processes in nature. Here, only the lack of imagination stands in the way of important new scientific discoveries. 

There are nonzero chances that the charge flipping algorithm may make direct methods obsolete. Performing as it is, the algorithm is obscure in its fundamentals. No equations, formulas, or proofs are proposed or derived. In the authors own words [14] we admit our own lack of understanding of it beyond the level of intuition. This is a patent case in which the human brain is almost made superfluous by fast computing. Indeed, this facet of scientific activity has few precedents.
