Labour safety

In recent years, the three-level system of NDT experts certification, which corresponds to the EN 473, is being introduced m Ukraine The unified Rules of NDT Experts Certification will be introduced in the near future. This work is headed by the State Committee of Ukraine on Labour Safety), and with the aim of the most expedient transition to EN 473, the National Certification Committee of Ukraine on NDT was established by the initiative of US NDT TD. The Committee has the tasks of preparing the programs, procedures, questionnaires for carrying out the certification. It is a non-profit organisation which is in charge of the methodological issues of certification m the US NDT TD. 

Convention on Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal and 69 ratified the ban on all kinds of hazardous waste export from wealthy OECD-countries to non-OECD countries, large amounts of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) are shipped overseas for recycling, the majority to China as reported by Brigden et al. [2] and Puckett et al. [3], lesser quantities to India and Western Africa reported by Kuper and Hojsik [4]. WEEE contains a variety of harmful substances like endocrine disruptors and persistent organic pollutants (POPs). Additionally, hazardous substances may be formed during informal recycling. This often practised informal treatment without proper equipment for metal extraction and labour safety heavily affects the environment and human health of workers and the inhabitants of whole stretches of land.

Some kind of supervision of labour safety and working conditions has been carried out by public authorities on the local, regional and central levels for almost 200 years. In sum, the leeway for discretion among labour safety inspectors in choosing compliance strategies is broader than that for chemical inspectors. However, both groups of inspectors use methods that aim at promoting respect for and trust in the inspection authority, and they try to adopt situation-specific compliance strategies that are based on soft persuasion and negotiating methods.

The Ontario Labour Safety Council is an advisory body only, advising and reporting to the Minister of Labour on all matters concerning the safety of the Province s labour force.
