Labeling the parts

An internal spur gear, in combination with a standard spur gear pinion, provides a compact drive mechanism for transmitting motion between parallel shafts that rotate in the same direction. The internal gear is a wheel that has teeth cut on the inside of its rim and the pinion is housed inside the wheel. The driving and driven members rotate in the same direction at relative speeds inversely proportional the number of teeth. Figure 57.5 labels the parts of an internal spur gear. [Pg.957]

Figure 60.10 labels the parts of the Conrad anti-friction ball bearing. This design is widely used and is versatile because the deep-grooved raceways permit the rotating balls to rapidly adjust to radial and thrust loadings, or a combination of these loadings. [Pg.1013]

Problem 5.13 Sketch an energy diagram for a two-step reaction with an endergonic first step and an exergonic second step. Label the parts of the diagram corresponding to reactant, product, and intermediate. [Pg.162]

Another interesting and important use of radiotracers in industry is in wear and corrosion studies. In studies of wear (tribology) one labels the part under study with a radionuclide. The radioactivity is concentrated on the surface undergoing wear by plating, diffusion, or ion implantation with a low-energy accelerator. The labeled part is put in service and, typically, one measures the radioactivity released in the lubricant as a measure of wear. Calibrations of the technique can be done to get absolute measures of wear. [Pg.113]

Draw a reaction-energy diagram for a one-step exothermic reaction. Label the parts that represent the reactants, products, transition state, activation energy, and heat of reaction. [Pg.171]

Problem 5.15 Sketch a reaction energy diagram that shows both propagation steps in the radical reaction of chlorine with methane. Is the overall AG for this reaction positive or negative Label the parts of your diagram corresponding to AG° and AG. ... [Pg.179]

Use a grease pencil or crayon to draw lines dividing a glass slide into four parts. Label the parts A, B, C, and D. [Pg.172]

Draw a schematic diagram of a mitochondrion, and label the parts of this ] Question 23 ... [Pg.660]

O Label the parts of the atom represented below and the charge of each part. [Pg.67]

Sketch and label the parts of a distillation system explain the operation of each part and the flow regime on the trays... [Pg.136]

Data which confirm the idea of the division of chromosomes into functionally autonomous zones have been obtained in experiments with in situ hybridization of poly tene chromosomes with labeled poly-(A)-containing RNA extracted from the ejaculatory bulbs of D. littoralis at various stages of differentiation. The label was obtained in the group of bands which are packed together, e.g., only the adjacent bands were labeled. The part of chromosomes which separated these clusters was without label (Karasik et al., 1978). [Pg.269]
