Ketones acetylations

In addition to its water solubility poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) is soluble in a very wide range of materials, including aliphatic halogenated hydrocarbons (methylene dichloride, chloroform), many monohydric and polyhdric alcohols (methanol, ethanol, ethylene glycol), some ketones (acetyl acetone) and lactones (a-butyrolactone), lower aliphatic acids (glacial acetic acid) and the nitro-paraffins. The polymer is also compatible with a wide range of other synthetic polymers, with gums and with plasticisers. [Pg.475]

[Pg.605]

Synthesis ofLysergic Acid, By reacting N-benzoyl-3-(B-carboxyethyl)-dihydroindole (see JCS, 3158 (1931) for the preparation of this compound) with thionyl chloride, followed by aluminum chloride gives l-benzoyl-5-keto-l,2,2a,3,4,5-hexahydrobenzindole. This is then brominated to give the 4-bromo-derivative, which is converted to the ketol-ketone by reacting with methylamine acetone ethylene ketol. This is then hydrolized by acid to yield the diketone and treated with sodium methoxide to convert it to the tetracyclic ketone. Acetylate and reduce this ketone with sodium borohydride to get the alcohol, which is converted to the hydrochloride form, as usual. [Pg.54]

Considerable variation is also possible in the carbonyl function, and in addition to simple aldehydes and ketones, acetyl cyanide,292 diethyl oxomalonate,293 diethyl oxalate,294 and ethyl cyanoformate 295 [Eq. (77)] will all undergo cycloaddition to alkenes to form the corresponding oxetanes. Oxetanes are also formed in certain circumstances from both a,j8-unsaturated aldehydes298 and acetylenic ketones.297... [Pg.74]

Not only does condensation take place between two molecules of an ester such as acetic ester, but also between an ester and a ketone, Acetyl acetone can be prepared, for example, from acetic ester and acetone CHj.COOGHj + CH3.CO.CH3 = CH3.CO.CB1.CO.CH3 + CjHjOH. [Pg.6]

Handb. bereits folgende Methoden ... [Pg.214]

P-Acetamido ketones were successfully synthesized by one-pot four-component reaction of an aryl aldehyde, ketone, acetyl chloride, and acetonitrile at 80°C in the presence of SSA (Khodaei et al., 2005) (Scheme 5.60). The reaction does not require... [Pg.155]

While enologists have been interested in the odorous constituents of grapes and wines for many years, Hennig and Villforth (1942) and Hennig (1943, 1950-1951) seem to have made the first systematic studies on the subject. They extracted wine with pentane and after hydrolysis identified the alcohols and acids. They reported the following aldehydes, ketones, and related compounds (formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, propion-aldehyde, cinnamaldehyde, vanillin, acetone, methyl ketone, acetyl-methylcarbinol, and acetal—caproaldehyde and higher members of the series, benzaldehyde, and furfural were not positively identified but probably also occur) alcohols (methyl, ethyl, isopropyl, isobutyl, isoamyl, and a-terpineol—n-propyl, n-heptyl, and sec-nonyl (2-nonanol)... [Pg.461]

BiCla in situ generated from the procatalyst BiOCl was proved to be very efficient in the catalyzed one-pot multicomponent synthesis of P-acetamido ketones from a variety of aromatic aldehydes, enolizable ketones, acetyl chloride, and aceto or benzonitrile (Equation 13) [33cj. [Pg.30]

Steroidal cyclic ketone acetyl hydrazones, on the other hand, behaved differently upon photolysis an unprecedented formation of lactams was found in the photolysis of some steroidal acetylhydrazones in the presence of oxygen. The irradiation of 3 3-acetoxy-5a-androstan-17-one acetyl hydrazone in dioxan in the presence of oxygen afforded 17-oxo-17a-aza-D-homosteroid and its 13a-isomer in low yields, while if oxygen was excluded, none of these lactams were formed (Scheme 27). A pair ofy-lactams is also formed from its D-nor homologue. Although the details of the multistep process for the lactam... [Pg.1914]
