Ionic poly

The grafting of poly(ethylene oxide) chains onto PES and a poly(aryl ether) (PAE) has been used to increase the hydrophilicity of these non-ionic poly-mers. These systems were then blended with SPES. SEM analysis showed... [Pg.161]

Poly( ethylene oxide)-block-poly (propylene oxide)-hZock-poly(ethylene oxide)-g-poly(acrylic acid) (PEO-fc-PPO-fc-PEO-g-PAA, Pluronic-PAA) graft copolymers were synthesized by free radical grafting copolymerization of acrylic acid monomers onto PEO-h-PPO-h-PEO (Pluronic F127) and the aqueous solution properties were characterized by Bromberg [133, 134]. Chiu et al. [135] reported on the micellization of (non-ionic) poly(stearyl methacrylate)-gra/f-poly(ethylene glycol) graft copolymers. [Pg.204]

It is traditionally considered that for conventional ionic poly-mers the ions are dispersed throughout the sample in a very low state of aggregation, either as ion pairs or ion quartets. The evidence to support this concept is derived from nuclear magnetic resonance data, viscosity data, and dynamic mechanical measurements. As a recent trend, it is widely accepted... [Pg.443]

Many ionic poly(saccharides), such as heparin, chondroitin sulfates, dextran sulfate, and natural poly(saccharides), such as dextran, dextrin, pullulan, and their charged derivatives have been used as mobile phase additives for the separation of different enantiomers. Figure 10.10 [191,192,205,206]. Dextrins were found to have a wide application range, thought to be due in part to their helical structures. Enantiomer-chiral selector complexes seem to be weaker than for cyclodextrins, and it has not been demonstrated that enantiomer separations obtained by the poly(saccharide) chiral selectors cannot be obtained using cyclodextrins. Natural poly(saccharides) are typically complex mixtures of homologues and isomers, with a composition that can vary for different sources, resulting in differences in enantioselectivity. [Pg.829]

Comparison of the pure PAAm with the ionic poly(acrylamide-co-acrylates) (PAAm/AAcNa) showed that the viscosity of the ionic species decreased even stronger with time. The examined PAAm/AAcNa showed a decrease of more than 90% of its viscous behavior after storage in aqueous solution. Like for the pure PAAm, light scattering did not show a decrease in the molar mass for the PAAm/AAcNa [31-33]. [Pg.37]

The mesoporous template is synthesized in a two-step pathway using tetraethyl orthosilicate as the silica source and non-ionic surfactants following the procedure described by Boissiere et al. [16]. As a surfactant, non ionic poly(ethylene oxide) -PEO- surfactant To gitol IS-S-N was selected. Briefly, the silica source is added under stirring to the solution of the surfactant and the pH is adjusted at around 2 with HO. The solution is kept in a closed vessel for 18 h without stirring at room temperature. Then, a small amount of NaF is added to promote silica condensation. The mixture is aged for 3 days at two temperatures, 293 K and 333 K. The white precipitate obtained is filtrated, dried and calcined at 873 K. The samples arc referred to as T30 and T60, respectively. [Pg.560]

Guar is a non ionic, poly dispersed, rod shaped polymer, which is not affected by ionic strength or pH. However, strong acid and alkali at high concentration tend to reduce the viscosity. Studies showed the changes in the rheological and thermal properties of gum when salts were added in the solution [81]. [Pg.1203]
