Interventions discipline used

Kinetics as a discipline includes a set of concepts and approaches that are useful in solving problems. Kinetics can be used to explore naturally occurring processes, to assess the impact of human intervention and to develop new practices. [Pg.39]

In this era of managed care, social work and many other disciplines have been forced to examine treatment methods and modalities with a new vigor. In order for social workers to survive in the physical and mental health care arenas, it is clear that we must provide the most effective and accountable care. This care must incorporate knowledge of the medications that are being used to supplement therapeutic interventions. In this volume, we will provide an overview of issues and concerns about medication that social workers will encounter in practice. [Pg.338]

A process is said to be spontaneous if it occurs without outside intervention. Spontaneous processes may be fast or slow. As we will see in this chapter, thermodynamics can tell us the direction in which a process will occur but can say nothing about the speed of the process. As we saw in Chapter 12, the rate of a reaction depends on many factors, such as activation energy, temperature, concentration, and catalysts, and we were able to explain these effects using a simple collision model. In describing a chemical reaction, the discipline of chemical kinetics focuses on the pathway between reactants and products thermodynamics considers only the initial and final states... [Pg.773]

By virtue of their training, certification, involvement, and contribution to Y microsphere treatment programs, the disciplines of Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, and Interventional Radiology are all qualified to use microspheres. They need to fulfill the training and experience requirements set in 10 CFR Part 35.390 or 35.490. [Pg.173]

Occupational Health Psychology. The disciplines of health and industrial psychology combine with occupational health in occupational health psychology. Adverse workplace conditions may cause stress, anxiety, and burnout, with symptoms such as headaches, stomach problems, depression, and apathy. Interventions to avert employee illness or negative behavior include teaching workers to manage stress, use tools of conflict resolution, and deal with rudeness or uncivil behaviors in the workplace. Positive applications... [Pg.1338]

The bottomline. Before deciding on an intervention approach, conduct a careful analysis of the situation, the behavior, and the individual(s) involved in an observed discrepancy between desired and actual behavior. Do not impulsively assume corrective action to improve behavior requires training or "discipline." A behavioral incident analysis will likely give priority to a number of alternative intervention approaches. 1 discuss critical disadvantages of using "discipline" or a punishment approach to corrective action in Chapter 11. [Pg.162]

As we have discussed, some activities or behaviors are not readily motivated by certain types of consequences, thus requiring extra support. Figure 11.6 can be used to identify these tasks and guide approaches for consequence intervention. Because safe behavior competes with at-risk behavior that is supported by external and natural consequences, it is usually necessary to support safe behavior with extra consequences. This leads us now to a discussion of two very popular safety topics rewards and penalties (actually referred to as "discipline" in occupational settings). [Pg.212]
